- Bachelor of Science in Engineering field, manufacturing or Finance related degree
- 10+ years of proven experience as a senior capital project manager or similar role, with a track record of successfully managing construction capital projects using PMMI stage gate process.
- Requires openness and the willingness to listen carefully and consider all points of view, while at the same time maintaining decision authority and independence
- Strong social skills, recognizing their own emotions, as well as those of others, and comfortable leading/coaching the project team through their experiences and lessons learned
- Ability to build strong peer-to-peer partnerships with functional/discipline leaders who own the assurance standards for their areas
- Their experience and skills will be respected by the project team and project decision makers
- Experience serving as a project manager delivering projects with capital expenditures similar to those covered by the assurance activities
- Experience working with a multitude of contractors and contract forms (e.g., reimbursable, lump sum, lump sum turnkey, etc.)
- Background or experience in operations, project controls, or construction management is desirable, but not required

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Sr Expert Capital Governance (Project Stage Gate Assurance) facilitates the development and implementation of a holistic and independent assurance review of the project prior to the stage gates. The objective of this role is to validate compliance with the work process requirements and to leverage experience to recommend solutions to close gaps definition or planning gaps. The Sr Expert Capital Governance (Project Stage Gate Assurance) assessment should reflect an unbiased data- and experience-driven review that spans core project functions and concludes with actions for the project team and recommendations to key project decision makers.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
In this role, the Sr Expert Capital Governance (Project Stage Gate Assurance) is responsible for developing and implementing the Project Assurance Plan; conducting and/or facilitating assurance reviews and providing actionable feedback; and providing the project gatekeeper with a summary of the project risks and recommendations on whether the project should proceed through gates in the project approval process.Typical duties of the Sr Expert Capital Governance (Project Stage Gate Assurance) include:
Championship of the company’s assurance processes
Aligning the project assurance plan with the assurance guide to meet requirements
Working with the project team to identify relevant assurance reviews and aligning on the timing of the reviews
Communicating with the project team the required assurance review deliverables and expectations as well as project team participation requirements in the assurance reviews
Coaching the project team in incorporating reviews into the project schedule and allowing for follow-up/gap closure work
Working with line managers to assign appropriate Assurance Review Team (ART) members
Providing direction and instructions to ART team members participating in assurance reviews
Serving as the principal reviewer of key assurance deliverables prior to each gate
Maintaining an action log for review follow-up activities
Preparing an executive report for the gatekeeper(s) or leadership team summarizing the major gaps and risks to the project at each assurance review
Making a recommendation on whether the project should proceed or identifying what gaps should be closed before proceeding
Working with functional leads to build functional assurance capability
Promoting the value of assurance across the organization
Periodically assessing the effectiveness of the assurance processes and driving the definition and implementation of assurance improvement plans

The approximate pay range for this position is $127,000 to $177,000. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities as well as geographic location.
