- Analyze and evaluate risk for insurance cases considering characteristics such as plan design, demographics, experience, financial or medical factors, and state and federal regulations.
- Select and maintain cases to achieve revenue, persistency, and profitability goals for top and bottom-line growth. Communicate financial and other factors to field partners.
- Manage block new business rating, while also calculating block renewal increases and risk.
- Design and coordinate issuance of plans, policies, and premium rates within established departmental guidelines. Identify problems and provide solutions and alternatives.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of various insurance products, their features and limitations, and industry/regulatory terms.
- Provide training and guidance to new or entry level associates.
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- 1-3 years of related experience required.
- 1-3 years of dental/vision underwriting experience preferred.
- Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and organization skills.
- Strong sense of urgency to deadlines established by the department, new business RFP requirements, contract renewal dates and/or state laws.
- Ability to make effective decisions based on solid understanding of all financial risk implications.
- Dental network analysis skills preferred.

Position Description:
The Senior Group Underwriter position is responsible for underwriting and managing insurance cases, primarily in the 200-1,000 enrolled segment, by using strong subject matter knowledge about Ameritas products and underwriting principles. This position works independently and influences others to achieve operational targets.

This role could be hybrid (Lincoln, NE) or remote based on proximity to an office location.
