Provide both production support and software development for a diverse portfolio of vendor and internally developed applications, some of which include OATI, Energy Accounting, iTOA, Retail Office and EterraArchive.
Provide primary support for Power Grid Operations Staff:
Energy Control Centers
Distribution Control Centers
Transmission Systems Engineering
Ensure systems adhere to regulatory standards (FERC, NERC, and SERC)
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure system stability, data integrity, and compliance with enterprise standards.
Lead system modernization and efficiency initiatives.
Enhance automation and improve operational efficiency.
Liaise with vendors for enterprise applications
Interact with stakeholders across Duke Energy
Develop and maintain multi-platform data systems
Develop a deep understanding of the TCCS application environments, integrations, and support structures
Participate in multi-regional on-call rotations
Strong application development and support experience across multiple platforms and technologies
Engage in continuous learning and adapt to emerging technologies
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Capable of implementing solutions with limited guidance and proactively anticipate problems
Strong problem-solving skills
Ability to manage priorities and deliver under pressure
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Experience with vendor-supported applications, mobile technologies, and databases.
Familiarity with regulatory compliance, grid operations, and large-scale application environments
In Support Role, monitors production operation of and maintain the availability of assigned applications. Involves reviewing and reacting to daily performance logs, incident tickets and providing 24X7 on call support. Responds to production emergencies within the appropriate Service Level Agreement (SLA). Coordinates response for critical and high Incidents, and Major Incidents (MIs)). Assists users, answers user questions, training and assists users with defining business processes as necessary.
Monitor and maintain availability of assigned applications, providing 24/7 on-call support
Review and react to performance logs, alerts, error messages, and incident tickets.
Responds to production emergencies and Major Incidents (MIs) within the appropriate Service Level Agreement
Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues that require significant freedom of action and sound judgement.
Coordinates with operations, business partners, IT Teams, DBAs, and vendors to plan and perform maintenance, enhancements\upgrades, and emergency patches. Updates documentation appropriately.
Works with vendors and other IT team members to implement projects, enhancements, broke-fix, and maintenance, remove impediments and to provide support for applications and solutions.
Understand technical architecture, business processes, integration and capabilities of the team's application portfolio.
Works on projects as a subject matter expert, developer, requirements analyst, technical lead or project lead. Provide knowledge and expertise gained from past experience.
Designs and develops solutions based on defined requirements and helps coordinate development efforts on maintained applications. Assists with testing and migrating code through test regions. Ensures adherence to appropriate design, coding and source control standards. Leads design and code walk-throughs as a presenter or reviewer.
Translates business needs into technical deliverables throughout the Agile lifecycle
Processes Change Requests and Quality Assurance (QA) documentation for project implementations and support changes.
Presents information on technically complex subjects in an understandable manner in both oral and written format to management and other stakeholders. Recognizes appropriate times to provide this communication.
Deliver Documentation and facilitate knowledge sharing
Leads by example and exhibits maturity, confidence and a proper level of assertiveness when needed. Effectively handles stress and frustration. Demonstrates the ability to absorb change and continue with positive results.
Provides recommendations and assists in decision making at an application/integration system level.
Bring new ideas for test driven coding, dev ops capabilities, modern architecture, AI, automation and design thinking. Research and analyze new technology
Build relationships and manage expectations with relevant stakeholders
Utilize Agile and SDLC methodologies and appropriate Human Performance tools effectively
Participate in team standups, planning and review sessions
Provide on call support for technical releases
Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or other related degree
In addition to required education, minimum 4 years related work experience
In lieu of required degree, High School/GED and minimum 8 years related work experience
Five (5) years minimum experience in software application development including Business Requirements analysis, software design, testing, deployment, vendor management and Enterprise Standards and Process Adherence
3+ years development experience with the .NET platform, including C# and ASP.NET
Experience with other software development languages/tool such as Python, Java, and Powershell
Experience with Windows Server including Microsoft IIS
Experience with application development on Linux including bash scripting
Experience with developing for Oracle Or MS SQL Server (SQL and PL/SQL) including schema design
Experience with Kafka application development
Experience with Containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, Nirmata)
Experience with DevOps tools (Github Actions, XLD, XLR)
Experience with reporting tools (SSRS, PowerBI)
Experience with developing security features in software applications, web applications and APIs
Experience working with packaged software solutions
General knowledge of the Transmission Control Center Solutions portfolio
Experience with Agile methodology
Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills including complex data analysis.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with customers, management, and teammates
Strong leadership, communication, and influencing skills
Expert technical issue-resolution ability
Hybrid – Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable commute to the designated Duke Energy facility.

The preferred location for this role is the Charlotte Energy Control Center (ECC), but can sit at any ECC within the Duke Energy service territory
