POSITION PURPOSE:

Sets-up, operates 3,4 & 5 axis mills and Multi Axis lathe, and verifies the quality of work on a wide variety of CNC machines involving close tolerances and difficult set-ups. Perform routine or repetitive operations in a manner which will consistently meet quality requirements and production standards. Actively participates in continuous improvement activities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:

• Performs complex set-ups, without supervision, on a wide variety of CNC machines in a manner which will ensure accurate and precise compliance with design and quality standards.
• Capable of writing complex 5 axis programs for our other divisions remotely and help support engineering and manufacturing through teams meetings.
• Monitors variations in sequence, e.g., positioning, cycle time, etc., and make necessary corrections.
• Works from drawings and/or specifications with little or no direction from Team Leader.
• Troubleshoot complex machining job problems without supervision.
• Runs Limited production and deburrs parts as required.
• Writes programs for CNC machines Mill/Lathe.(Mastercam)
• Help determine the best machining process.
• Select and align tooling, fixtures, and attachments for machining.
• Adjust machines to produce a conforming product.
• Perform in-process inspection of own work while running machine.
• Complete required paperwork and keep material and paperwork organized.
• Provide on-the-job training to other employees in the department.
• Maintains work area in a neat and orderly condition. Works safely and comply with all established safety rules and work practices.
• Keeps Team Leader informed of job, machine, and equipment related problems as well as any other information related to work activity.
• Maintain and care for all shop tools, machines, and equipment.
• Conform to the company quality system as documented.
• Willing to help in other areas to meet our customer needs.
• All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: High school education or equivalent, plus at least 2 years of Vo-Tech training in machine tool technology or a related area or equivalent.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Ability to read blueprints and use measuring instruments.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 15+ years machine set-up and operating experience in a job shop environment.

10+ years programming (Mastercam preferred), solid works experience preferred.

SKILLS ABILITIES: Very strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

PHYSICAL STRENGTH: Lift up to 25 - 30 pounds.

LANGUAGE ABILITY: Ability to understand and follow instructions in English.
