      Position Summary

      At Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., we are seeking a passionate and experienced Sr. Equipment Maintenance Technician for our Asheville, NC location.       Key Responsibilities

      • Inspect and repair mechanical and electrical equipment, plumbing, physical structures, and lighting systems to identify defects or malfunctions.
      • Repair and maintain production items according to blueprints, manuals, and building codes using a variety of tools.
      • Apply advanced knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and CNC equipment.
      • Maintain and repair industrial fork trucks, including propane and gasoline systems.
      • Fabricate and repair structures within the plant, such as steel shelving and wooden enclosures.
      • Implement preventative maintenance programs for all plant equipment.
      • Operate welding equipment (Tig, Mig gas, or arc) and industrial trucks.
      • Maintain detailed records and logs of repairs and activities.
      • Adhere strictly to safety policies and procedures while performing all job duties.

      Minimum Requirements/Qualifications

      • Minimum three to five years of experience in maintenance or a related field, with prior technical training.
      • Proven independent decision-making skills for various quality situations in fabricating and repairing equipment.
      • Advanced troubleshooting skills to diagnose equipment malfunctions and determine necessary repairs.
      • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics.
      • Knowledge of general maintenance techniques, shop math, and applicable codes.
      • Certification to drive forklift and other powered industrial equipment preferred.
      • Electrical, HVAC, or contractor certifications or licenses are a plus.

      Non-Negotiable Hiring Criteria

      • High School diploma or equivalent experience required.
      • Ability to stand, reach, pull, push, and occasionally lift heavy items.
      • Good eye, hand, and foot coordination.
      • Exposure to potential injuries; safety procedures must be strictly followed to prevent serious injuries.
      • Exposed to normal plant environment with periodic noise from machinery operations.
