      Wellabe is seeking a hybrid Senior Payroll Administrator, reporting to Finance, who will be responsible for overseeing and executing all aspects of payroll processing, payroll tax administration, general ledger account reconciliation, and W-2 processing. This role also includes coaching and training team members, ensuring compliance with MAR controls, relevant regulations and policies, and maintaining accurate payroll records. #LI-Hybrid

      Be successful in this role

      Someone in this role will:

      • Process biweekly multi-state payrolls for around 400 employees. This includes non-qualified deferred compensation distributions on annual and monthly frequencies, and all ACH direct deposit files.
      • Oversee UKG Payment Services payroll, wage and tax reporting, and wage withholding payments to ensure timely and accurate tax deposits, 941, 945, SUI returns, and garnishment activity.
      • Coordinate file transfers to Vanguard for 401(k) and non-qualified deferred compensation plans.
      • Reconcile general ledger accounts related to payroll using Workday Financial reports and UKG Pro Standard and BI reports.
      • Prepare and distribute W-2 forms.
      • Provide support and training, ensuring employees and managers are equipped to effectively use UKG Pro to record and approve time worked and absences, request one-time payments, W-4’s, direct deposits.
      • Maintain UKG Pro by reviewing new release information, setting up new features/enhancements including earnings, deductions, and tax codes, testing new features and codes to ensure compliance with all regulatory and benefit plan requirements.
      • Maintain strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy with ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
      • Collaborate with managers, HR, and other stakeholders to identify opportunities for process improvements and automation.
      • Participate in other accounts payable and unclaimed property processes as necessary.

      Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.

      Qualifications

      • Strong understanding of deferred compensation plans, including 401(k) and non-qualified plans.
      • In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations and FLSA compliance.
      • Excellent Excel skills, with the ability to create and manage complex spreadsheets, formulas, pivot tables.
      • Ability to create and edit UKG Pro BI reports.
      • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with emphasis on confidentiality for sensitive matters.
      • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
      • Strong organizational and time management skills.
      • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
      • 5 plus years' experience in payroll administration, preferably in an insurance company. CPP preferred
      • Experience with UKG Pro software is highly preferred
      • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related discipline. A combination of education and/or relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
      • CPP, or other payroll certification, is highly desirable.
