The Lubrication team within SKF Research & Technology Development (RTD) plays a key role in conducting fundamental and applied research and technology development for a diverse range of application areas.

(Sr) Researcher Lubrication
To strengthen the Lubrication Team in Houten we are looking for a (Sr) Researcher Lubrication. You will be supporting R&D projects focused on bearing lubrication, interaction between the lubricants and bearing surfaces, sustainable lubrication, lubricant characterization, selection and performance. Lubricant and material selection for improved bearing performance is currently covered by a number of projects and activities in which you will play an important role.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop and perform tribological tests to study lubricant and surface performance. Lubricant chemistry, performance and characterization including friction and film thickness. Manage research and technology development activities (DOE, analysis, reporting) in projects; contribute to innovation and knowledge development in the lubrication area. Contribute to the EHS & 5S standard of our laboratories.
Job Requirements
At least a MSc/Masters with more than 5 years’ experience in Chemistry, Tribology, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent; or PhD with relevant experience in bearing lubrication. Experience in working in an R&D environment is an advantage. Knowledge in lubrication and tribology; hands-on approach and interested in working in a laboratory (experimental research); enthusiastic attitude; self-motivated and pro-active team player; business focused and result oriented; strong communication skills and fluent in English.

This position will be located in Houten, the Netherlands, on a local contract.
You will report to Competence Area Teamleader Lubrication.
