- Operate 28- and 30-ton cranes and pass certification on both.
- Pass and obtain a forklift license to operate all forklifts.
- Obtain CDL/air brake license to operate Peterbuilt truck.
- Understand and apply rigging manuals, manufacturers equipment manuals, and service manuals
- Follow any and all safety procedures for the rigging trade
- Work with ropes, chains, block and tackles, and slings
- Work from prints, drawings, and sketches
- Required to climb and do high work
- Must pass test for overhead crane operations
- Must be able to perform daily, monthly, and yearly inspections of: slings, hoists, rigging hardware, and cranes
- Complete the proper lubrication of all the aforementioned items
- Knowledge of building construction methods, to be able to recognize framing and construction methods for rigging capabilities
- Be capable of estimating weight of equipment to lifted or moved
- Understand and able calculate and locate the center of gravity of equipment to be moved
- Understand pieces of various machines and how they interact for installation and removal.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 2-3 years of experience as a Rigger
- Must have general knowledge of all trades, and recognize systems encountered when moving machinery
- Must be physically capable of heavy lifting every day, lifting 80 pounds alone on occasion, must be in good physical shape.
- Forklift certification preferred.
- CDL/ air brake license preferred.
- 30-ton crane certification preferred.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Excellent customer service skills

The Opportunity
This position works out of our Abbott Park, IL location in the GES Global Engineering Services Division.
The Sr Rigger will align machinery or heavy equipment. They will use ropes, cables, chain blocks or tackle, and use slings; with cranes, hoists, rollers and other devise to move items. May erect, hang scaffold. Required to climb, do high work. Must select proper materials and use proper rigging technique to accomplish move safely and correctly. Perform mechanical work such as repairing pumps, seals conveyors, putting seals in drives. Work from prints, drawings, and sketches. Must be able to obtain CDL license with air brake. Must become certified on a 30 and 28 ton crane and use load charts to determine lift safety. Must be able to read gauges, use calipers, use hand power tools. Must be able to use precision machine levels, and optical and laser levels. Understand and apply rigging manuals, manufactures equipment manuals, and service manuals. Must have working knowledge of an oxygen and acetylene torches.
