- Drive strategy related to sales compensation programs across multiple businesses. Ensure compensation plans align with desired business objectives, regulatory requirements, and Pacific Life’s compensation philosophy.
- Using compensation and insurance and/or financial services industry knowledge, consult with leadership on sales trends and innovative sales incentive solutions that enable the business to retain top talent and achieve goals.
- Leverage knowledge of best-practices and trends through research, surveys, and participation in industry peer group meetings particularly related to sales incentive plans, pay mix, incentive metrics, and plan mechanics to proactively make recommendations related to the plans.
- Lead and perform in-depth data analysis to determine the effectiveness or current sales compensation plans and metrics. Provide viable recommendations to support changing business needs and comply with internal and external governance requirements.
- Perform market benchmarking, sensitivity analyses, pay and performance modeling, and other competitive analysis to ensure sales compensation is competitive in the market and aligned with Pacific Life’s compensation philosophy.
- Drive the design and execution of effective plan governance and provide guidance and recommendations to improve and drive consistency and simplicity in sales compensation program design, modeling, communication, and implementation.
- Ensure incentive plan documents are up to date and made available to eligible participants and prepare plan communication materials.
- Collaborate with broader compensation team and key partners in the development and execution of company-wide compensation programs.
- 10+ years of experience in sales incentive plan design
- Ability to partner with sales leadership and manage multiple stakeholders within the organization
- Certified Sales Compensation Professional (CSCP) and/or Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) preferred
- Strong analytical skills and mastery level proficiency in sales compensation program design and administration, and understanding of change management processes
- Knowledge of regulatory and legislative matters that impact sales compensation design structure and communication
- Advanced Excel knowledge, including the ability to manipulate large data sets and conduct scenario analyses/modelling.
- Strong verbal, written and stakeholder communication skills to effectively influence and manage expectations with sales leadership and cross-functional teams
- Demonstrated sales compensation experience within a multi-faceted consulting, insurance and/or financial services company.
- Strength in developing executive presentation materials and storytelling as part of communication and stakeholder management to develop impactful insights.
- Experience building successful consulting relationship with senior leaders when negotiating timelines, design options, and setting competitive pay targets.
- Ability to leverage automated market and HRIS databases to assess organization needs, conduct in-depth research, monitor, and analyze market-competitiveness and internal equity, and advise the business on design alternatives that enhance sales programs and plan designs to promote pay-for-performance and drive employee attraction and retention.
- Experience creating communication strategies to educate sales leaders and professionals regarding incentive plan design objectives and outcomes.
- Experience implementing efficiencies, automation, and integration of HRIS (Workday preferred) and business area sales incentive calculation processes and systems.

We’re actively seeking a talented Senior Sales Compensation expert to join our HR Compensation team in Newport Beach, CA or Omaha, NE (hybrid work schedule). Fully remote will also be considered based on location.
As a subject matter expert in sales compensation, you will lead Compensation team members in designing, evaluating, and communicating sales incentive compensation programs to support the organization’s goals across multiple lines of business. You will collaborate with teammates to ensure our internal customers receive consistent guidance on compensation philosophy and processes. To be effective this person will need to build strong partnerships with sales leaders, business area finance leaders, Human Resources Business Partners (HRBPs), and internal legal counsel.

Base Pay Range:
The base pay range noted represents the company’s good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.
