      Job Summary

      The Sand Mine Operations & Safety Foreman is a supervisory position over a crew of hourly employees and/or contract staff responsible for daily plant and safety operations. The Foreman is responsible for directing the day-to-day Plant operations, all MSHA reporting, and safety regulations.

      Job Duties & Responsibilities

      • Coordinates the day-to-day work activities for a team of field personnel and contractors
      • Inspects work progress, equipment, construction sites to verify safety or and to ensure specifications are met
      • Estimates materials and worker requirements needed to complete jobs
      • Orders ore requisitions materials and supplies to complete jobs
      • Confers with managerial or technical personnel to resolve problems and issues that arise
      • Seeks opportunities to streamline processes, optimize productivity, eliminate inefficiencies, and cut costs
      • Attends production, completion and safety meetings as needed
      • Performs all work in accordance with Chesapeake's EHS guidelines, as well as government regulations and codes
      • Acts as a lead when the superintendent is unavailable
      • Provides direct supervision of personnel; participates in decisions involving hiring, promotion, compensation, and termination of employment
      • Performs other duties as assigned

      Job Specific Skills

      • Knowledge of Sand Mine operations
      • Knowledge of heavy and processing equipment operations, including their designs, uses, repairs and maintenance
      • Knowledge of MSHA safety and environmental standards, requirements and regulations
      • Knowledge of administrative procedures in order to prepare and maintain reports, budgets, and administrative records as required
      • Ability to assign, delegate, and direct the work of others
      • Ability to provide on-the-job training, performance assessment, coaching, motivation, and career development to employees
      • Ability to show flexibility in response to change and adapt to and accommodate new policies, procedures, and technology
      • Ability to ensure all employees are operating within all Chesapeake, state, and federal guidelines, policies, and regulations

      Education & Experience

      Minimum: High School Diploma or GED and 8 - 12 years related work experience or an equivalent substitution for education of 12 - 16 years related work experience

      Additional Qualifications

      Ability to possess a valid drivers license
