      We foster an inclusive culture and are looking for diverse, talented people to join Alcon. As a Sr. Scientist supporting the U.S. Development of Formulation Team, a typical day will include:

      • Performs lab-scale polymer synthesis, modification, purification, formulation and characterization.

      • Highly motivated in laboratory research tasks and strong hands-on bench experience.

      • Develops expertise in both materials’ technology and the contact lens production process to ensure compatibility between material and process.

      • Develops an in-depth understanding of structure/property relationship in polymers, specifically the relationship between molecular architecture/morphology and bulk contact lens properties.

      • Uses relevant statistical techniques/ methods to plan and execute experiments and to analyse experimental data. Experience in factorial design and mixture design are highly desirable.

      • Files all new material concepts including monomer/ polymer designs, syntheses, purification and formulation through invention disclosures and support patent filings as required to protect intellectual property.

      • Provides timely communication on planned and completed work to the project & functional team members and leadership through written reports and presentations.

      • Develops an external network of research partners/ collaborators to complement internal competencies in the above-mentioned research areas.

      • Actively monitors competitor activities and patent & scientific literature for significant technical developments relevant to CL and CLC products.

      WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON:

      • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +10 yrs; Assoc.+6 yrs; M.S.+0 yrs)

      • The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English

      • 2 Years of Relevant Experience

      • Work hours: 40 hours

      • Travel:10%
