Job Description

- Manage day-to-day operations of 2 Distribution development teams supporting new capabilities, maintenance, technical upgrades, etc.
- Educate and coach the team in Agile Methodology, ensuring that the agreed Lean-Agile process is being followed and aligns with The Hartford’s Enterprise Business Delivery Model.
- Act as a role model for servant leadership.
- Influence and work effectively with key stakeholders and business sponsors in a timely manner.
- Organize and facilitate ceremonies, identify improvement opportunities to optimize velocity and quality while mitigating risk, support and manage backlog health, and plan for future milestone releases.
- Track and communicate overall team progress, providing visibility to stakeholders (Daily Stand-ups, Retrospectives, Sprint Planning, Quarterly Planning, etc.).
- Lead team maturity efforts through a continuous improvement mindset.
- Serve as a filter to remove impediments to progress as identified by the team.
- Protect the team from outside influences to ensure focus on Scrum Team priorities.
- Partner with the Product Owner and Product Manager to ensure backlog items are prioritized based on business value and ready for the team; support team KPIs.
- Drive a continuous improvement mindset.
- Partner with integrating LOB application teams and application Production Support/Reliability Engineering teams.
- Partner with and manage vendor implementation partners and 3rd party vendor integrations.
- Manage and oversee resource planning and financial management for the application team.
- Possess a foundational understanding of application technology frameworks to guide and support the team in delivery; demonstrate ability and desire to learn new technologies.
- Provide matrixed reporting and coaching/feedback to ensure team success.
- 3+ years’ experience working and managing Agile team structures (Scrum/Kanban); experience with SAFe is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of Agile methodology, rules, and practices.
- Strong understanding of software development processes and procedures, including fundamentals of iterative and incremental development.
- Proficient in Agile techniques such as User Stories, Continuous Integration, Test Driven Development, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, Burn Down Metrics, and Velocity.
- Resource management skills: ability to assess supply and demand and secure necessary resources across a matrixed organization.
- Agile mindset: embody Agile core values of openness, courage, respect, focus, and commitment; promote Agile principles, practices, and methodologies to drive team success.
- Strong technical skills, including a solid understanding of technical architecture.
- Extensive experience partnering with Line of Business (LOB) stakeholders.
- Superior organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including confident presentation abilities before large audiences.
- Effective organizational and planning capabilities.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Insurance industry experience preferred.

Personal Insurance is looking for a Senior Scrum Master with experience to manage the execution of initiatives within our Distribution Value Stream. We are seeking a highly motivated, results oriented individual with strong Agile, technical and leadership skills.
This role is for a Hybrid work arrangement. Candidates who live near one of our locations will have the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday)

Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
