      Req#: 4024

      Who we are:

Our story might surprise you. We’re the world’s largest restaurant company—encompassing KFC, Pizza Hut, and Taco Bell—but there’s a lot more going on behind the scenes than just frying chicken, baking pizzas, and serving up tacos. We put this delicious food in the hands of customers through apps, websites, kiosks, POS, and other digital dining experiences – and we are only getting started.

Byte Connect is a hub for managing menus and orders for third-party channels at both the store and market level. As a Senior Software Engineer I on the Byte Connect team, you’ll help design and scale a system that’s as reliable as it is innovative. This is a hands-on role that involves building backend services and contributing to architecture decisions for a platform that will be delivered to over 50,000 restaurants in more than 145 countries. That’s a big job, and we’re looking for fearless engineers who are ready to take it on.

      What we need:

The Byte Connect team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer I who brings deep technical experience and thrives in a collaborative, fast-moving environment. You’ll build and maintain distributed systems, APIs, and backend services that form the backbone of our platform. Your work will directly impact how millions of customers get their food.

      You will:

      • Build Scalable Systems: Design and implement scalable backend services that process orders and manage real-time menu updates
      • Be a Hands-On Engineer: Write high-quality code (Node.js preferred), review merge requests, and ensure best practices for clean, maintainable solutions.
      • Foster Collaboration: Partner with product managers, designers, engineers, and external stakeholders to prioritize features, resolve technical challenges, and deliver meaningful business outcomes. Align with vendors and contractor resources to ensure cohesive solutioning and execution.
      • Drive Operational Excellence: Champion a low-ops mindset with AWS-managed services (e.g., DynamoDB, Lambda, S3) to ensure performance, reliability, and scalability.
      • Contribute to Platform Evolution: Support the ongoing optimization of order and menu workflows across Byte Connect’s third-party integrations.

      You have:

      • A bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience
      • Strong Technical Foundation: 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on building distributed systems, APIs, and cloud-native applications.
      • Proficiency with AWS: Expertise in AWS-managed services like DynamoDB, Lambda, S3, and API Gateway.
      • Problem-Solving Mindset: Comfortable navigating ambiguity and crafting solutions that balance short-term needs with long-term scalability.
      • Strong Communication Skills: Ability to articulate technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders and build consensus across teams.
      • Collaborative and Independent Execution: Demonstrated ability to work independently while also partnering effectively with cross-functional teams.

      We prefer:

      • Experience in a startup or high-growth environment
      • Experience writing high-quality code in Node.js
      • Experience with infrastructure-as-code (e.g., AWS CDK or Terraform)

      Salary range: $114,900 - $144,000 annually + eligible bonus

Benefits: Employees (and their eligible family members) may enroll in the following types of insurance coverage: medical, dental, vision, legal, and accidental death and dismemberment, as well as FSA/HSA (depending on enrolled medical plan).
