      Position Summary

Samsung, a world leader in advanced semiconductor technology, is founded on a simple philosophy – the endless pursuit of excellence will create a better world for all. At Samsung Austin Research and Development Center (SARC) and Advanced Computing Lab (ACL), we are building a center of excellence for Intellectual Property (IP) that is applied to high-performance computing devices (mobile, automotive, and other custom market segments) consumed by millions of people around the world.

      Role and Responsibilities

Samsung LSI Memory team delivers PPA-differentiated memories for use in CPU and GPU applications. As a Senior Memory Circuit Design Engineer, you will innovate on the design improvement of custom SRAM macros, which will enable higher performance and lower power consumption for CPU and GPU implementations in multiple tiers of Samsung mobile devices thru DTCO.

As a member of a small but highly-skilled custom design team, you will have ample opportunities to contribute in a wide range of areas:

      • You are an innovator. You thrive on exploring new circuit design concepts that allow PPA differentiation relative to standard memory offerings. You bring fresh ideas to challenge past practices, approaches, and drive future-oriented changes to generate creative innovation.
      • You have a curious mindset. You will study the impact of leading edge process technology on circuit design from the perspective of layout rules and transistor characteristics. Using this knowledge, you will drive feedback and influence request for improvement to the process technology team.
      • You are a domain expert in one or more technical areas. You will own the entire design cycle encompassing transistor-level design, logic checks, layout supervision, Boolean equivalence, post-layout spice margins analysis, timing characterization, EMIR / noise analysis, and design/layout optimization.
      • You are skilled at driving cross-functional collaboration. Your team-level technical collaborative effort will drive technology enablement in areas such as statistical analysis of memory bitcells, sense-amplifiers, level-shifters, etc while contributing to methodology / flow improvements which benefit design quality and productivity.

      Skills and Qualifications

      • 15+ years of experience with a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Engineering, or 13+ years of experience with a Master’s Degree, or 11+ years of experience with a PhD
      • 15+ years of transistor-level SRAM design experience in a recent technology node
      • Technology Enablement (TE) and DTCO experience at advanced technology nodes (below 5nm), including technology, logic and memory cell architecture exploration, and interconnect option exploration. Multiple-Foundry experience is a big plus.
      • Foundation IP (both Library Cell and SRAM Memory) design and architecture experience up to MTO and post-Silicon activity.

      Our Team

You will join our growing Global Advanced Technology Enablement team that is specialized in driving technology development across Samsung System LSI business. We engage with Foundry partners from the very early phase to thoroughly explore target technology for next-generation SoC products.

Samsung System LSI values the strategic importance of DTCO/TE activities, especially for advanced technology beyond 5nm nodes. Our goal is to maximize Samsung LSI’s product benefits, often measured by PPA, Silicon Reliability, and design TAT.

Imagine life inside an innovative environment focused on collaboration and growth to scale quickly. Here you are part of a diverse global task force with a cross-functional scope. Being part of a unique growing team at a well-established global company means you have limitless room to explore, innovate, and grow by wearing different hats.
