Job Description
- Req#: 17097
- Participate in new supplier selection with Procurement, Design & Manufacturing partnership.
- Use common assessment & process audits to understand supplier capability. Identify key gaps and validate actions.
- Drive “Zero Defect” culture within the supply base by establishing quality roadmap, on-site supplier improvement activities, championing focus supplier meetings, validating corrective actions.
- Champion focus supplier meetings, track supplier KPIs to understand current state and improvements made. Present findings during leadership calls & focus supplier meetings & make recommendations as needed.
- Support sourcing reviews & QBRs.
- Champion problem solving (8D & DDDW), Implement & Verify corrective / preventative actions with cross functional teams.
- Implement Top Defect Matrix (TDM) within the supply base and work with Design & Manufacturing to close open actions (New & Existing Product).
- Conduct APQP activities and PPAP disposition for New & Existing Product launches / processes.
- Identify and drive improvement projects on leading component failures using data from customer failures, factory first pass yield, CoPQ, Internal rejects, capability & factory test / labs.
- 5 yrs+ experience in supplier development or related activities.
- Experience in Manufacturing, Process, Quality.
- Engineering knowledge of DOE, FMEA, SPC, Process Characterization, GR&R
- Knowledge of APQP, PPAP & Quality Assurance systems.
- Proficient user of six sigma tools such as COE, DOE, SPC, Process Mapping, etc and the ability to interpret findings and make recommendations.
- Proficient in the use problem solving tools such as 8D.
- Ability to interpret component specifications & anticipate design or part discrepancies that lead to quality or reliability problems.
- Good written & verbal communication (English), Presentation, Interpersonal skills
- Self motivated & passionate to drive zero defect quality culture
- Ability to multitask and work under minimum supervision.
- Willing to travel to supplier locations within the region (35%+)
- Knowledge of (specify process / industries / components) is highly preferred
- Certified Six Sigma Black Belt

The Supplier Quality Engineer will report to the regional Supplier Quality Leader and is responsible for actively driving a "zero defect" mentality using problem solving & root cause analysis within the supply base.
You will work directly with suppliers to satisfy Resideo's quality standards and strategy, and continuous improvement activities. You will interact with all levels of the Resideo Organization. As Resideo's point of contact within the supply base, you will travel within your assigned geographical area, in support of a variety of supplier oversight functions, spending a part of your time at supplier facilities.
You will be responsible for coordinating suppliers and verifying quality standards in accordance with the requirements of Resideo. You will be in charge of performing supplier audits to ensure compliance with regulatory standards, as well as actively participating in strategic development based on quality control plans.
