Job Description
- Req#: 10694
- Assess risk to ensure that the risk meets established underwriting criteria
- Evaluate, price and propose rates based on established underwriting guidelines while meeting profitability standards set by management
- Manage assigned workload to meet productivity and time service standards, ensuring that appropriate action is taken within the requested due date
- Develop and maintain successful relationships with producer sources
- Bachelor's Degree
- 10+ years in underwriting HMO Reinsurance and Provider Excess Loss insurance coverages or first-dollar underwriting experience
- Strong knowledge of risk evaluation and the rating of targeted business, as well as current industry terminology, trends and markets
- Strong knowledge of available products
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills with internal and external customers
- Ability to be productive independently, yet work in a team environment
- Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships with management and staff to further the company’s mission

Responsibilities
We have an opportunity for a Senior Underwriter to join our Berkley Accident and Health team! You will be responsible to solicit, write, and retain a profitable book of Managed Care/Reinsurance business. You will contribute to the achievement of Berkley Accident and Health’s financial plans by meeting established premium growth and profitability goals.
