      Overview

      Seneca Square, a DePaul Community Residence-Single Room Occupancy (CR-SRO) Program, is now hiring a temporary full-time Assistant Food Service Director!

      Responsibilities

    • Assists the Director with managing the SRO’s dietary department including the adherence to budgets, preparations of meals, ordering of food and inventory and supervision of staff.
    • Assists the Director with all dietary personnel functions including recruitment, hiring, documented supervision, evaluations, disciplines and scheduling.
    • Ensures that safety and sanitation practices and cleaning schedules within the department are followed by everyone.
    • Responsible for the proper record keeping of inventories, storage, and utilization of food.
    • Under the supervision of the Director, provides orientation to new dietary staff and helps to ensure that they receive all mandatory trainings.
    • Provides input to the weekly menus and accepts resident input by taking into account resident preferences.
    • Oversees the preparation of meals including the oversight of the dining room.
    • Accommodates resident’s dietary needs whenever possible.
    • Helps to ensure that all meals are healthy and nutritious, minimizing the use of processed foods.
    • Responsible for approving time-off requests and minimizing the use of overtime when possible.
    • Responsible to utilize government foods / Food Link / Food Bank whenever possible in an effort to help defray food costs.
    • Attends all required staff and resident meetings.
    • Respects and maintains resident confidentiality and demonstrates a caring, positive attitude toward all residents (as per respect policy), staff, family members, guests and service providers.
    • Follows all safety rules and regulations for self, residents and staff.
    • Wears attire that is appropriate for position.
    • Performs any other duties necessary for the effective operation of the program.
    • Qualifications

      Education / Experience:

      Associate’s degree in food service management or a High School Diploma with a minimum of two (2) years of experience in the food service industry, one of which should be in a supervisory or management capacity.

      *In addition to the above criteria this position also requires a clean NYS driving record as outlined in DePaul’s personnel policy. Must be at least Eighteen (18) years of age.
