Job Description

- Reconciliation of general ledger accounts.
- Preparation and entry of journal entries in Oracle.
- Perform research into variances and trends.
- Assist with various audit requests.
- Preparation of tax returns, including sales and use tax and property taxes.
- Conduct research and generate ad hoc reports as assigned.
- Coordinate property and sales & use tax reporting and payments.
- Assist with annual College Exemption filings.
- Assist with fixed asset reporting.
- Prepare ad hoc reports as needed.
- Coordinate month-end close activities.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- At least 1 year of experience in accounting.
- High integrity, ethics, and a strong sense of responsibility and accountability.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Effective process mapping and documentation skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively.
- Experience with Excel pivot tables and advanced functions.
- Experience with Oracle software.

Job Summary
The Caltech Controller's Office seeks a motivated, analytical accounting professional to support various teams, including Property Services, Plant Fund Accounting, Payroll & Benefits Accounting, and General Accounting. Reporting to the Associate Controller, and working closely with Payroll, Finance, HR, and other campus stakeholders, the Staff Accountant will play an integral role in the timely and accurate accounting and reporting of various financial transactions.

Hiring Range
$68,640 - $73,800 per year. The final salary will depend on various factors including experience, education, and internal equity.
