- Support and backup all payroll duties.
- Processing bi-weekly payroll and related tax, benefit and other disbursements.
- Prepare and file monthly, quarterly and annual payroll tax withholding and unemployment tax returns along with payments.
- Process monthly benefit payments for Health, Pharmacy, Dental, Vision, Disability, Life, Medicare Supplement and Medicare Part D insurance. Reconcile billings to deductions.
- Reconcile bank accounts for Payroll, Flex Spending and Health and Dental accounts.
- Prepare monthly accruals for payroll, unemployment, vacation and health.
- Prepare employment count reports. Enter new employee information into UltiPro.
- Assist with monthly deferred comp (LTI) and Class B (nonqualified plans) accruals; assist with quarterly LTI and Class B statements.
- Payroll controls review.
- Assist with award/prize tracking and gross-ups.
- Assist with employee W2 and director 1099 forms.
- Assist with annual salary, other employee relations and vacation budgeting, bonus calculations and payments, including the Profit Sharing bonus. Verify annual vacation rollover.
- Update Payscale (salary survey software) for job and employee data.
- Prepare Ward FTE file and other requested items.
- Reasonable and predictable attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Payroll processing experience, including withholding and payment of related taxes and benefits.
- Proficiency with payroll software system and various bank, benefit and tax websites and portals as well as general ledger and other accounting systems and report software.
- Required to maintain 100% confidentiality at all times for sensitive data.
- Meets deadlines accurately and efficiently.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, Excel, Word and Teams. Advanced spreadsheet skills helpful.
- Strong accounting and analytical skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to work with people at all levels of the organization.
- Critical thinking and problem solving skills are required.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Ability to handle multiple responsibilities with competing priorities.
- Ability to analyze financial and non-financial data.
- Ability to work on-site at the home office most days, particularly during the training period.
Acuity is seeking a Staff Accountant - Payroll to support and backup all payroll activities including bi-weekly payroll, withholding, filing related taxes, benefits accounting including non-qualified plans, gross ups on prizes/awards, annual W2’s and director 1099’s, employee compensation statements, Ward FTE and salary survey software job/employee reporting.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Associate’s Degree/Diploma in Accounting with strong equivalent experience.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum five years accounting experience required. Payroll experience preferred.
