- Oversee and manage construction draw processes, and ensuring compliance with contracts and agreements
- Coordinate and oversee billing and invoicing activities for development/construction projects
- Track costs to the various projects to ensure adherence to budget
- Enter contracts and change orders into accounting system as they are received
- Work with AP on processing weekly check runs
- Work with project managers on monthly billings to ensure all costs are captured and allocated appropriately
- Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to provide financial insights and recommendations
- Perform month end close process and preparation of Financials
- Assist with audits of construction projects
- Maintain internal controls to ensure safeguarding of company assets and adherence to company standards
- Other tasks to be assigned
- $60,000 - $80,000 / year
- Annual performance based bonus
- Undergraduate degree in accounting, finance, or related fields, CPA candidate preferred
- Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant accounting experience, real estate development or construction experience a plus
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Highly intelligent with analytical skills and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and an effective team player

ResponsibilitiesThe Staff Accountant will be responsible for certain aspects of Development & Construction accounting relating to various entities within Related California reporting group. The Staff Accountant will work closely with the development and construction project teams, as well as other departments within the company, and will need to establish and maintain good working relationships with them. This individual will be preparing billings, maintaining project budget and change order, managing/tracking project costs, preparing capital call requisitions, etc. The Staff Accountant will also be involved in a variety of special projects and financial analysis and continuously working to improve reporting and information sharing.
The ideal candidate is a highly entrepreneurial and self-motivated person who thrives in a dynamic work environment and demonstrates a flexible and adaptable work style that responds quickly and efficiently under tight deadlines. The Senior Accountant will report to the Controller and will be based in our Irvine office.
