      About this opportunity:

      The Staff Drilling Engineer is responsible for driving technical excellence and supporting the delivery of drilling programs for both subsea and platform operations. This role involves developing and optimizing well designs and managing critical project interfaces to meet regulatory, safety, and operational objectives as well as supporting offshore operations, leading multi-functional technical integration.

      This position is located at our St. John, NL office.

      What you'll do:

      • Provide comprehensive technical support in well design planning and execution, with a focus on well integrity, regulatory compliance, and integration with subsea and topsides infrastructure.

      • Ensure Atlantic Region well delivery objectives are achieved through the Well Design and Execution Process.

      • Conduct detailed well design, manage regulatory submissions, and support risk identification and mitigations, while supporting operational execution through shore-based and offshore engagement.

      • Ensure seamless project delivery through planning, cost control, contract oversight, performance management and multi-functional collaboration.

      • Support the AR Engineering mentorship program, Emergency Response Team, and drilling contract and technical champion roles.

      • Training as required by the CAPP Standard Practice for Training & Qualifications of Personnel, Transport Canada, other regulatory requirements, and company required training as per the approved Cenovus Training Matrix and AR DCI Competency assessment.

      Who you are:

      Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum qualifications:

      • Legally authorized to work in Canada

      • Minimum 12 years of engineering experience in the oil and gas industry

      • Expertise in all aspects of well design planning, including collision avoidance, escaping planning, survey programming.

      • Skilled in advanced drilling equipment and operations for Horizontal/Extended Reach wells.

      • Competent in well integrity areas of well construction and operational execution.

      • Exposure and experience with non-drilling functional scopes, such as completion/intervention, subsurface and production engineering, integrity engineering, subsea well systems and associated operations

      • Experience with exposure to an offshore and/or harsh weather subsea and platform development environment.

      • A member in good standing or eligible for registration with Professional Engineers and Geoscientist Newfoundland & Labrador (PEGNL)

      This is a safety sensitive position and will be subject to offshore pre-placement Fitness for Work assessments, which includes drug and alcohol screening, a CAPP medical and BST/HUEBA testing

      You must be able to travel via helicopter and boat. This position requires the successful candidate travel offshore, there you will be required to obtain and maintain medical clearance and obtain all required training necessary for offshore travel.
