      Job Title – Staff Engineer – Eng Excellence , AEC BAS & Controls

      Johnson Controls’ R&D organization - AEC (APAC Engineering Center) – BAS & Controls is seeking a Staff Engineer – Eng Excellence who will support engineering organization operational excellence and strategic transformation, his/her responsibilities include engineering MOS execution, strategy/goal alignment, process/system deployment, performance metrics analysis, training & learning, employee engagement, innovation & partnership etc. His/Her contribution will be important to re-build an industrial-leading RDE team will aligned with new "Local for Local" business strategy.

      Position Responsibility

      • Operational Excellence
        • Engage into various activities that to develop long-standing, self-managed, cross-functional, autonomous delivery teams, drive a culture of Ownership and Continuous Improvement
        • Maintain an effective and lean Management Operating System (MOS), support regular activities including annual event, regular project/technical review, resource allocation etc
        • Establish development team performance, productivities, and quality evaluation metrics (KPI, OKR etc) and reporting/analyzing mechanisms
      • Engineering Execution
        • Work with project manager/finance partner, supporting team expense/cost planning, tracking, analysis, ensure finance target meet per annual planning. Also responsible for Daptiv timesheet tracking, validation of planned effort vs actual spending etc.
        • Engage into release management, tracking ECN(Engineering Change Notice) and ECR(Engineering Change Request)
        • Dealing with released product quality analysis, including Engineering relevant RMA and Tech Support cases
        • Work with HR/Ops/TA to improve employee experience in onboarding, motivation, feedback and engagement efforts.
        • Support project and team procurement activities, capital management, spending compliance.
      • Capability Improvement
        • Develop and deploy team technical and soft-skills training plan per team capabilities analysis and portfolio-based needs mapping
        • Build connection and alignment with global engineering function initiative and best practices, tailoring system/framework to fit local team needs
        • Innovation promotion, encourage participation global Tech Challenges and local innovation activities, develop IP objective and work to drive outputs
      • Process Maturity
        • Ensure high quality process deployment and execution, follow RCLP process for NPI development
        • Agile maturity improvement, formalize role, practices and cadence
        • Improve problem solving and risk management skills with coaching, practicing and summarization.
      • Transformation management
        • Assess, evaluate and analyze current engineering delivery practices and propose an engineering transformation plan promoting industry-leading RDE practices
        • Explore various local/global partnership on innovation value chain, support different collaboration model. Be active part of China technology eco-system

      • Education, Experience & Skills
      • Bachelor or above degree in Engineering - Computer Science, Automation, Electronics etc preferred
      • Minimum 10 years working experience in top relevant industrial MNC company, preferable in Research, Development and Engineering organization
      • Minimum 5 years team management experience
      • Minimum 5 years project management experience, good understanding in NPI or IPD process
      • 3+ years of organizational change management experience
      • demonstrated leadership experience through managing people and teams and leading/managing cross-functional teams
      • Solid experiences in one or more specific Engineering functions – hardware development, software development or system/product testing etc.
      • Understanding in Lean execution, Standard Work, Visual management, Kaizen etc
      • Solid Six Sigma experience with green belt or black belt certificate, skills to apply Value Stream Mapping, Continuous Improvement, TMAP, RCA (Root Cause Analysis), FMEA etc
      • Familiar with SDLC (Software Development Lifecycle), experience in CMMI model deployment
      • Experience in Agile/Scrum development practices
      • Demonstrated proficiency with implementing lean, standard work and continuous improvement programs and leading work system cultural transformations
      • Proven record of leveraging technology, process optimization and work system development
      • Vision for establishing and maximizing value from process optimization and cultural excellence
      • Passionate about modern engineering best practices, efficiency, and productivity and see it as your mission to advocate for a strong, productive engineering culture
      • Strong believer in the power of process, system and framework, and own the intelligence to balance compliance vs flexibility.
      • Obsessed with using metrics to measure the impact and outcomes for your organization and stakeholders - "what gets measured gets managed."
      • Understand the mindset of developers and are relentlessly driven to improve the developer experience
      • Strong analytical skills, ability to interpret data and trends, diagnose problems, and recommend action plans to resolve issues
      • Excellent skills in presentation, facilitation, communication, and negotiation, able to express technical and nontechnical concepts clearly and concisely
      • Be proactive and organized and handle work under stressful and uncertain environments
      • Mix of strategic, operational, analytical, and people skills
