      Job Description

      General Responsibilities:
      Provide engineering and deep foundation consulting services across a diverse range of projects and sectors. Responsibilities include conducting and leading field investigations, performing analyses and calculations, preparing design plans and specifications and developing technical reports. Review drawings and construction activities to ensure alignment with project requirements. Support proposals development, prepare cost estimates, monitor budgets and schedules and resolve design or construction-related issues. Projects work may span public infrastructure, transportation, commercial development, communications, energy and industrial sectors.

      Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

      • Adhere to safety rules, guidelines and standards on all projects. Participate in pre-task planning and promptly report safety concerns.
      • Demonstrate strong quality practices and attention to detail across all project tasks.
      • Ensure consistent quality in both proposal development and project execution.
      • Manage and execute projects of limited complexity under supervision.
      • Assist in developing the scopes of work, cost estimates, technical specifications and project documentation.
      • Assist in the preparation of cost estimates, specifications, and other project related documents.
      • Analyze engineering data and perform calculations for review by a licensed Professional Engineer.
      • Conduct, coordinate or supervise field investigations, laboratory testing, and data analysis.
      • Develop project plans and schedules; coordinate detailed phases of assigned project tasks.
      • Collaborate with senior project managers and the Professional Engineer of Record to gain project management and technical experience.
      • Provide design input, recommendations and modifications for review by the Professional Engineer of Record.
      • Prepare scopes of work, proposals, technical reports and investigative plans for senior-level review.
      • May supervise field staff including graduate/field engineers, engineering technicians, laboratory personnel and exploration teams.
      • Assist with and receive training for dynamic testing of driven piles and drilled shafts using a Pile Driving Analyzer (PDA) and CAPWAP software.
      • Perform wave equation analyses using GRLWEAP software.
      • Assist with instrumentation installation for both conventional and bi-directional static load testing of deep foundation systems.
      • Conduct Crosshole Sonic Logging (CSL), Thermal Integrity Profiling (TIP) and Low-Strain Integrity Testing (PIT) of drilled shafts and similar foundations.
      • Interacts with clients and internal teams to develope scopes of services and communicate project progress.
      • Work under the supervision of a licensed Professional Engineer and a Terracon Authorized Project Reviewer.
      • Perform other duties as assigned.
      Requirements:
      • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering, or other related field (required).
      • Master's degree in Engineering (preferred).
      • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Engineering Intern (EI) certification (required).
      • Minimum 1-5 years’ experience.
      • Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
      • Understanding and appreciation for consulting engineering
      • Preferred experience in geotechnical engineering, geotechnical academics or deep foundation construction.
