      Title: Staff Mechanical Engineer - Core Technology

      Reports to: Sr. Manager, Mechanical Engineering

      This Staff Mechanical Engineer position reports to the Sr. Manager, Mechanical Engineering and requires specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise in CVD and/or ALD semiconductor equipment system design. The incumbent will interface with cross functional teams to support design activities for new/modified designs and drive detailed design, validation and productization.

      Major Responsibilities:
      • Specialized in, perform, and oversee design of semiconductor equipment chamber and support systems according to functional and engineering specifications that meet performance, quality, reliability, cost, and schedule targets.
      • Assure system quality and reliability by designing test procedures and coordinating testing.
      • Conduct technical reviews of process requirements, specifications, standards, and design.
      • Problem identification of a wide range of complex mechanical problems by taking a broad analytical perspective.
      • Ideation, evaluation, and recommendation of innovative solutions in a methodical and structured manner.
      • Conduct concept and feasibility studies, Research and Development, and validation of new and modified designs.
      • Own and/or direct support personnel in the generation of detailed engineering documentation required to effectively manufacture components and subsystems for prototypes and volume manufacturing.

      Mandatory Qualifications:
      • Master of science degree in mechanical engineering and at least 5 years of experience in Semiconductor industry or PhD degree in mechanical engineering and at least 2 years of experience in Semiconductor industry
      • Proficiency with major CAD / CAE engineering tools.
      • Proficiency with ASME Y14.5, SEMI, and other relevant standards and their use.
      • Proficiency in systems engineering models and tools.
      • Familiarity with basic FEA analysis tools for structural and thermal design.
      • Demonstrated knowledge in the development and design of critical mechanical systems for advanced semiconductor processing equipment, including process chambers, vacuum systems, gas and liquid chemical delivery, and controls in temperature, pressure, valve, and motion.
      • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in applying classical fluid, heat & mass transfer techniques to propose concepts, design experiments, evaluate feasibility, characterize and improve systems.
      • Ability to act as a mentor to peers, including actively participating in design reviews, reviewing and providing feedback on others work including presentations, drawings and models.
      • Ability to lead functional teams/projects and to work independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations.

      Highly Desired Qualifications:
      • Advanced Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
      • Proficiency with NX and Teamcenter.
      • Familiarity with basic CFD for gas dynamics.
      • Proficiency with tolerance stack up analysis methods (e.g., RSS, Monte-Carlo, etc.).
      • Proficiency in the development and design of plasma and/or thermal CVD/ALD semiconductor reactor components (e.g., high temp wafer heaters, gas distribution showerheads, electrostatic chucks, wafer lift mechanisms, bellows, etc.) and/or subsystems/support systems (e.g. liquid precursor delivery, vacuum systems, temperature control systems, etc.).
