      Role Purpose:

      We are seeking a motivated Mechanical or Electrical Engineer to join the Syracuse, NY Power Generation/Mechanical Engineering Center of Excellence (COE) team. In this role, the engineer will provide design and development engineering support with a focus on diesel engines and their associated subsystems and components. This engineer will have the opportunity to work with engine systems using alternative fuels and other advanced technologies.

      Role Responsibilities:

      • Oversee the successful integration of engine powerplants into Carrier’s mobile refrigeration equipment, generator sets, and auxiliary power units (APU).
      • Conduct design evaluations, benchmarking, supplier evaluation, project tracking, and qualification of engine powerplants and their supporting components for use in the Transport Refrigeration Units (TRU), gensets, or auxiliary power generation applications.
      • Support global Sustaining Engineering Groups with their evaluation of customer or engineering field trial component failures to determine root cause and identify appropriate corrective actions.
      • Participate in and lead component design reviews.
      • Interface with cross functional team members, global engine manufacturers, and other suppliers to move design concepts to production solutions.
      • Apply knowledge of DFMEA or other robust engineering tools, tolerance analysis, simulation, and statistical methods to improve robustness and quality of TRU engines, subsystems, and components.
      • Implement and support development testing activities, including daily interaction with Carrier test engineering and component vendors.

      Required Qualifications:

      • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
      • 5+ years of experience working with compression ignition (CI) and/or spark ignition (SI) engines or related engine/exhaust aftertreatment components

      Preferred Qualifications:

      • Experience in any of the following engineering functions: engine application engineering, design, development, cost reduction, validation or qualification is preferred.
      • Some experience in technical leadership (guiding junior engineers, leading technical peer-to-peer reviews, etc.) supporting team members with executing projects is desired
      • Willingness to take on unique engineering challenges outside of prior work experience or primary educational background
      • Familiarity with Heating, Ventilating, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration systems is desired but not required.

      Pay Range:

      $94,500.00-$165,000.00
