About the Role

We seek an experienced Staff Mechanical Engineer to lead new product development from concept to production. You will have significant ownership and work within a small, mission-driven team. This position is based in our San Francisco office.

Responsibilities

• Design and architect complex electromechanical systems, including components made of plastic, metal, and soft goods, integrated with sensors and actuators.
• Manage the entire development lifecycle, from brainstorming and CAD modeling to prototyping, testing, and production ramp-up in Asia.
• Collaborate with industrial design, marketing, product teams, and leadership to shape product direction.
• Work cross-functionally with electrical, software, reliability, and manufacturing teams to solve complex problems.
• Conduct analyses and testing to ensure designs meet goals, including thermal, fluid, and structural assessments.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in consumer product design, with knowledge of injection molding, sheet metal forming, soft goods, and electromechanical systems.
• Proven track record of shipping high-volume consumer products, with manufacturing support experience in Asia; willingness to travel to China.
• Proficiency in 3D modeling and simulation tools (e.g., SolidWorks, NX, Creo).
• Experience with DFM/DFA, tolerance analysis, GD&T, and quality measurement techniques.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; MS preferred.
