In this role, you will provide comprehensive care to service users experiencing acute mental health issues. Your responsibilities will include administering medications, developing individualised care plans, and working closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic patient care. Strong communication skills, a compassionate approach, and a commitment to improving patient outcomes are essential. This position offers a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our service users.

We are recruiting for Staff Nurses for:

      - Ward 1 Becklin (Female Acute)

      - Ward 5 Becklin (Female Acute)

      - Ward 4 Newsam (Male Acute)

Please indicate your preference to location and service user group in your application.

      Main duties of the job

Working as part of a multi-skilled, experienced, motivated and creative service, you will be responsible for contributing to the efficient day to day delivery of effective clinical care and risk management of the service users within the ward.

You will have great interpersonal skills and be able to establish a professional working relationship with service users, carers and families. You will be cool in a crisis; it's a busy clinical area and we manage lots of risk-taking behaviour including deliberate self-harm and management of violence and aggression. It is a demanding yet rewarding role.

As a Mental Health Staff Nurse on our acute inpatient units, you will:

Provide direct patient care, including administering medications and monitoring patient progress.

Develop and implement individualised care plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.

Offer emotional support and therapeutic interventions to patients experiencing acute mental health crises.

      Maintain accurate patient records.

Participate in team meetings and contribute to the continuous improvement of care practices.

Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions and treatment options.

Ensure a safe and supportive environment for all patients.

This role requires strong clinical skills, empathy, and a commitment to patient-centred care.

  • About the company

National Health Service (NHS) is the umbrella term for the publicly-funded healthcare systems of the United Kingdom (UK). The founding principles were that services should be comprehensive, universal and free at the point of delivery—a health service based on clinical need, not ability to pay. Each service provides a comprehensive range of health services, free at the point of use for people ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom apart from dental treatment and optical care.
