      About this opportunity:

      Cenovus is seeking a Staff Petrophysicist to join our dynamic Conventional Development Team. Reporting to the Senior Geoscience Manager, the Staff Petrophysicist will provide petrophysical analysis, interpretation, and associated services to support the operations, development, and exploration initiatives within the Conventional Development Group. This requires familiarity with deep basin logging (cased hole and open hole), drilling, completions, and intervention operations with the ability to design evaluation programs that are consistent with this framework.

      Responsibilities:

      • Provide petrophysical analysis, interpretation, and associated services to support the operations, development, and exploration initiatives.

      • Conduct Petrophysical interpretations using industry standard methodologies such as deterministic and probabilistic analysis.

      • Integrate multiple data sources and wells into consistent field wide interpretations.

      • Provide real-time interpretation products while drilling (as needed). Integration of SCAL and routine core analysis.

      • Provide petrophysical support to aid in the understanding of the geo-mechanics of the region.

      • Awareness and familiarity with safe conventional logging (case hole and open hole), drilling, completion, and intervention operations specific to Deep Basin assets.

      • Be a contributing member of Cenovus’ growing petrophysical community for knowledge sharing, guiding/mentoring and exposure to the diverse petrophysical work happening in our company.

      Qualifications:

      • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.

      • Completion of a bachelor’s degree in science or engineering.

      • Member in good standing or eligible for registration with the Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA).

      • Minimum of 15 years of petrophysical experience. Experience with Aspen Tech’s Geolog and other petrophysical software suites.

      • Expertise in clastic petrophysical interpretation and interpretation of petrophysical logs for geo-mechanical interpretation.

      • Conversant in carbonate petrophysical interpretation.

      • High-level of expertise in well planning and operational oversight from a well logging standpoint.
