      Overview

      Provides Obstetrics and Gynecology medical care to the patients of AltaMed. Delivers care and services aligned with AltaMed’s Team-Based Care Model focused on population health, evidence based medicine, appropriate resource use, and integrated delivery of care. Leverages AltaMed’s Team Based Care Model to ensure all members of the clinic team are practicing at highest scope of practice. Participates as active, engaged member of AltaMed Provider group, including sharing responsibilities in the care of patients, cross-coverage, peer review, provider meetings, CME, and advancing AltaMed as a provider-led organization. Responsible for a clinic panel (empaneled against the clinic) including health outcomes, patient experience and overall patient care (both internal and external). Reports to the Site Medical Director with strong collaboration and oversight by the head of Women’s Health and Regional Medical Director.

      Responsibilities

    • Perform full spectrum outpatient ambulatory care in Obstetrics and Gynecology. If required, able to perform full scope of practice in Hospital.
    • Operating room Labor and Delivery and Emergency Room as it pertains to the care of the Obstetrical and Gynecologic patient.
    • Perform thorough medical history and physical; and timely completion of detailed and accurate documentation of assessment, including updated problem lists and care plans for each patient encounter.
    • Complete orders and perform appropriate tests, analyses, and diagnostic procedures as required and recommended by an evidence-based practice.
    • Act timely and appropriately on results of tests, analyses and diagnostic procedures.
    • Administer or prescribe appropriate treatments and medications.
    • Practice age appropriate preventive care including vaccinations, screenings and recommendations on lifestyle, diet exercise, etc.
    • Provide evidence based women’s health care in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
    • Appropriately refer patients to medical specialist or other practitioner for specialized treatment as needed or is outside the scope of the physicians practice.
    • Follow the quality (HEDIS) requirements in health management of each patient, with emphasis on performing cervical cancer screening, mammogram screening, chlamydia screening, immunizations, colon cancer screening, and other health metrics.
    • Perform and maintain skills as required to practice outpatient OBYN such as but not exclusive of colposcopy, early trimester ultrasound to establish dating and viability of pregnancy, ultrasound evaluation of fetal position, establish AFI and viability, placement of removal of subdermal contraceptive devices, placement and removal of intrauterine devices, microscopic and evaluation of wet mounts for treatment of vaginitis.
    • Report births, deaths, and outbreak of contagious diseases to governmental agencies as required.
    • Conduct physical examinations to provide information needed for admission to school, consideration for jobs, or eligibility for insurance coverage.
    • Supervise, teach, and assist advance level practitioners (RNPs, Midwives, PAs) and residents.
    • Actively participate in the Quality Management Program, Utilization Review, Peer Review, AltaMed Medical Provider activities, and AltaMed’s On-call schedule if applicable.
    • Demonstrate behaviors in accordance with AltaMed’s Standards of Behaviors including Accountability, Teamwork, Respect, and Professionalism at all times.
    • Provide in-hospital care, if applicable.
    • Maintain competency and remain current in practice of OBGYN as outlined by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
    • Maintain valid board license and DEA credentials.
    • Other applicable duties as assigned.
    • Qualifications

    • Requirements include experience and training as a physician, having successfully completed a US accredited medical school degree and a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology or its equivalent.
    • Physician with an active unrestrictive CA license to practice medicine by the Medical Board of California.
    • Board Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology or Board Eligible Physician Obstetrics/Gynecology.
    • Previous experience with computer-based systems required; Electronic Medical records experience preferred.
    • Current Valid BLS certification
