      Job Description:

      Location: Hybrid within a 50 mile radius of an Elevance Pulse Point Office

      The Staff Vice President Technology for Carelon is a critical leader involved in all aspects of Carelon IT’s existing and emerging efforts to attain the organization’s goals and chart a path to achieve Carelon’s strategic objectives through the effective use of technology.

      Position Responsibilities:

      • Plans, directs, and controls the resources and efforts of a business unit of Carelon IT and is responsible for overseeing the accomplishment of the objectives of the company and the IT organization.

      • Obtains resources (people, funding, material, support) to deliver on commitments.

      • Provides leadership in motivating subordinates to accomplish IT's goals and objectives.

      • Develops a strong team through training and effective organizational development practices. Implements the policies, practices, and procedures of the company and Information Technology organizations.

      • Has fiscal responsibility for IT budgets, assessing individual solution costs and coordinating business unit cost optimization.

      • Establishes valuable and meaningful long-term relationships and maintains strong collaboration with internal clients and business partners.

      • Participates with other executives to establish strategic plans and objectives.

      • Collaborates with peers leading centralized functions in a matrixed environment to streamline capabilities and ensure end-to-end success.

      • Works closely with Carelon business unit leadership and is accountable for delivery and positive outcomes.

      • Makes final decisions at the business unit level and ensures operations' effective achievement of objectives.

      • Hires, trains, coaches, counsels, and evaluates performance of direct reports.

      • Brings risks to the attention of IT and business leadership and advises on mitigation options.

      • Engages stakeholders and key leaders to ensure continuity of plans and actions.

      • Develops explicit understanding of which relationships are most important to the organization and its stakeholders, builds a network prioritizing these relationships.

      • Manages critical conversations and proactively creates awareness as soon as appropriate.

      • Highly credible leader who, by reputation, will gain the trust and confidence of the business leaders

      • Uses equity-based, inclusive, structured, systematic, and transparent approaches to assessing and developing individuals and how they fit together in the team

      • Enable a consistent, strategic, and transparent approach to technology management to ensure team-wide ability to deliver on capabilities.

      Qualifications:

      • Requires an BA/BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field of study and a minimum of 15 years of experience managing and/or leading project teams and providing direction to associates; experience in one or more specific technologies, and a broad understanding of the primary areas of a major corporate IT function; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

      • 15 years’ experience as an engineering and/or technology leader; experience spans all aspects of technology, development, IT systems, infrastructure, technology operations as well as strategy articulation.

      • Strategic thinking with strong business acumen; must be well-versed in current technology trends and familiar with a variety of business concepts to arrive at solutions and support planning and decision-making.

      • Solid track record of delivering on business goals by defining and executing technology strategy and solutions for large, complex organizations.

      • Demonstrated ability to successfully lead matrixed organizations and influence stakeholders.

      • Experience coaching across large organizations through org design and a culture that fosters learning and execution excellence.

      • Recognized ability to evangelize and promote new concepts, technologies, and best practices to technical and business stakeholders across complex organizational structures.

      • Proven track record of collaboration and influence – recognized as a great partner for the business and technology teams.

      Preferred Capabilities and Experiences:

      • Experience with specialty business lines within healthcare.

      • Experience going on sales calls and working with IT C-suite both internal and external clients.

      • Proven experience working with diverse IT teams.

      • Familiarity with engineering and architecture industry best practices.

      • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience, desired.

      For candidates working in person or remotely in the below locations, the salary* range for this specific position is $230,784 to $346,746.
