      Job Description – Senior Staff/Staff Engineer-Mech.

      The Staff Mechanical Design Engineer works with the cross-functional team to design, develop, test, and implement lifesaving medical devices. In this position, you will design parts and assemblies that are part of Stryker’s defibrillator/monitor products. You will work on a variety of designs including plastic parts, electronics packaging, electro-mechanical systems, wire harnesses and cables, patient interfacing accessories, and power systems. The challenge is to design reliable medical devices that can withstand very harsh environments, so experience with drop, impact, shock, vibration, and water seals is desired. You will develop design concepts, conduct feasibility studies, build, and perform evaluation testing on prototypes and perform analysis on designs.

      What You Will Do:

      Technical Responsibilities:

      • Independently research, design, develop, modify, and verify components, modules and sub-systems for medical devices.
      • Translate user needs to design inputs/ specifications and produce complex system-level designs with some guidance.
      • Conduct or design advanced prototyping and testing.
      • Analyze and correct complex product design issues using independent judgment.
      • Troubleshoot engineering design issues, develop , and propose solutions to design. Implement design changes effectively and efficiently

      Med Device Compliance:

      • Be proficient with and mentor others in the usage of industry standards, including design requirements and test strategies per applicable regulations.
      • Follow and mentor others on R&D procedures like design controls and risk management, per the Quality Management System.

      General Responsibilities:

      • Work cooperatively with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Clinical, Marketing, and Project Management to ensure project success.
      • Identify and support the creation of or improvements to procedures, policies, processes, systems, and technology.
      • Support and execute segments of complex multifunctional teams to advance projects through the design /development/launch process.
      • Deliver high quality results with passion, energy,and drive to meet business priorities.
      • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build partnerships to achieve business objectives.

      What You Need:

      • Master/Bachelor’s in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering
      • 4+ years of work experience in plastics/metallic electronic device enclosure design. Proficient in performing static, dynamic, and thermal simulations preferably on Ansys software.
      • Experience in designing mechanical enclosures for electronic consoles, wireless devices, power systems is highly desirable. Must be adept on thermal management including PCB thermal calculations/modeling, simulations, and design considerations for thermal, EMI/EMC characteristics of the electronic body.
      • Exposure to designing mechanical components around PCBAs, electronic systems, and smart devices is required.
      • Strong technical ability to develop and optimize designs for mechanical / electro-mechanical assemblies incorporating DFM principles
      • Strong technical ability in creating engineering drawings, 3D models, applying GD&T and CAE tools.
      • Adept at applying knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes to product design.
      • Ability to communicate moderate complexity plans and technical information to team members.
      • Experience with PTC CREO CAD system and PTC Windchill database is preferred.
      • Strong Experience with analysis tools, specifically tolerance analysis and FEA using ANSYS software preferred.
      • Experience in doing crash simulations, drop test simulations, static and dynamic simulations is highly preferred.
      • Experience in the design of ingress protection(IP) rated parts. Strong knowledge of plastic parts design, manufacturing, and testing methods.
      • Experience in executing new product development projects involving complete product development life cycle phases from concept to launch.
      • Experience in working with regulated industries like Medical Devices, Aerospace, Automotive, etc. Understanding of medical device standards and regulations is preferred.

      Travel Percentage: 10%
