      About The Position

      The Engineer will provide technical expertise, support, and consultation for Energy Delivery Divisions (MO and IL) regarding electric distribution system components, material specifications, design standards, construction standards and tools. Represent Ameren in various industry and trade associations through participation and leadership to enhance Ameren technical capabilities and influence technical solutions to issues facing Ameren and the utility industry.

      Key responsibilities include:

      • Develop Engineering Design and Construction Standards in compliance with the National Electric Safety Code (NESC) for the maintenance and construction of new and existing distribution facilities with attention to safety, economics, availability, and customer reliability. Define material requirements through field investigations, contact with suppliers, factory representatives, and other utilities. Develop and update the Ameren Electric Service Manual.
      • Perform economic analysis of alternate construction or maintenance practices and alternate materials. Investigate material failures as reported by field personnel and initiate corrective action as necessary. Apply continuous improvement principles to all areas of responsibility.
      • Perform studies, analyze data, and create timely reports that support recommendations for cost and efficiency improvements. Provide training as required to field personnel.
      • Establish relationships and positively interact with other internal Energy Delivery groups and customers, and external vendors, contractors, industry and trade associations, and architect/engineering firms in performing the duties of the position.

      Qualifications

      Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university, preferably Electrical Engineering. Professional Engineer (PE) License or active commitment to obtain is required. Three or more years in various utility distribution engineering, operations, or related areas preferred. Must have good knowledge of materials, tools, and equipment used in utility distribution system construction.

      * Hybrid Work Environment: Position will be a mixture of work from home, in the office, and in the field.

      *Salary and level on Technical Engineer Path dependent upon individual credentials, experience, and/or engineer technical path/ position market pay level.
