  We are looking for an experienced Statutory Controller to join our Finance team in Basel, Switzerland. In this key role, you will ensure Swiss statutory compliance, handle local tax matters, and lead all aspects of financial reporting for our Swiss entity, Thermo Fisher Clinical Services GmbH.This role is ideal for a finance professional with a strong background in accounting, tax, and regulatory compliance who thrives in a varied, international environment.

  Your Responsibilities

  • Ensure full compliance with Swiss statutory and regulatory requirements, including accounting, tax, duties, and financial reporting obligations.
  • Handle direct and indirect tax compliance, working closely with the corporate tax team and liaising directly with Swiss tax authorities.
  • Lead all aspects of financial reporting accuracy, ensuring compliance with Swiss GAAP FER and handling the conversion from US GAAP. Coordinate external audits and ensure timely submission of statutory financial documents.
  • Ensure internal controls are in place and aligned with corporate policies and standards.
  • Assess and improve accounting processes, identifying and implementing automation or efficiency improvements.
  • Support General Ledger activities, including monthly and year-end closing processes, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial data management.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (local and global), including Finance, Tax, Accounting, and Operations

  Your Qualifications

  • Strong expertise in accounting and tax compliance, including indirect tax, intercompany transactions, and reconciliations.
  • Deep knowledge of Swiss GAAP FER and statutory requirements, with experience in direct engagement with Swiss tax and regulatory authorities.
  • 5+ years of experience in statutory accounting, tax, or financial compliance, ideally in a multinational organization or audit firm.
  • Confirmed ability to identify process inefficiencies and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong skills in MS Excel, Hyperion, and Coda (or similar financial software); ERP system experience is a plus.
  • Proficient in English and German (written and spoken)
