      Position Summary

      The role of the Sterile Processing Technician reports to the Sterile Processing Department Manager. This position is responsible for the decontamination and sterilization of all hospital instruments.

      Essential Position Responsibilities

      • Ensure proper protocol is followed for the decontamination of instruments
      • Assemble and sterilize instruments ensuring proper sterilization technique
      • Catalog and re-stock crash carts and urology carts
      • Ensure proper High-Level Disinfection (HLD) of semi-critical items is performed
      • Assemble case carts as needed for surgical case
      • Properly open and ensure stock is stored appropriately

      Qualifications

      • Education: High school diploma or GED
      • Licensure and Certifications: BLS, required within 90 days of hire. CRCST certification is due within 1 year of hire.
      • Experience: Previous experience in a healthcare setting, preferred.

      Work Environment: This position will spend 100% of the time standing and/or walking short distances with frequent pushing, pulling, and/or lifting up to 50lbs. This position will be exposed to body fluids and communicable diseases.
