      Recruitment, Cultivation & Diversity Department (RCD) in the Office of Human Capital (OHC) seeks an exceptional educator to review and provide feedback during Demo Day to aspiring teachers (Bilingual Education, Early Childhood, Elementary, ELA/Humanities, and middle or high school Math/Science) as part of the hiring process to become a Boston Public Schools (BPS) teacher. REPORTS TO: Rashaun J. Martin, Managing Director of Recruitment, Cultivation & Programs Sonya Dhanpat, Director of Recruitment BACKGROUND: Recruitment, Cultivation & Diversity Program within the Office of Human Capital (OHC) is committed to recruiting, preparing, developing, and retaining a racially, ethnically, culturally, and linguistically diverse group of highly effective and culturally proficient teachers and principals every year. We continue to focus our efforts on three key “levers” for human capital reform: Cultivate and Recruit, and Develop and Retain. These levers remain at the center of our strategy for accelerating student learning. The Candidate Demonstration Day is an opportunity for all invited participants to showcase their instructional practice and receive feedback from current school leaders and staff in the Boston Public Schools. Reviewers will meet with BPS Pipeline Program participants and Education Preparation partners to give feedback and support around improving participants’ demo day presentations. BPS Pipeline Program participants and Education Preparation partners are invited to present a 10-minute demo day lesson at the BPS Demo Day event on February 10, 2024 and April 6, 2024 to receive feedback and support around improving their Lesson Demonstration-which is part of the interviewing process to become a teacher in BPS. Reviewers will have a provided rubric to score each participant on one or both Demo Days so the Recruitment Team can collect data and provide feedback to each participant. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Demo Day: Collaborate as a team member with the BE/ACTT Coach, RCD team members, Recruitment Fellows, and other Demo Day Reviewers to support Demo Day program goals. This may include attending additional planning meetings. Primary role is to collect objective information regarding the Demo Day lesson by the prospective teacher being observed. Complete all of the required fields within a feedback template and relay this information back to the team lead. Selected candidates will be required to attend at least one (1) hour-long training session on the specific processes of Demo Day. Selected candidates must attend both Demo Days to provide feedback and coaching. Selected candidates are required to attend both Demo Days at least one hour before the start of the event and stay back at least one hour after the event Implement teaching and learning goals and objectives, in alignment with the MA Educator Evaluation Rubric. Establish and maintain a trusting, confidential, professional relationship with the BE/ACTT Coach, RCD team members, Recruitment Fellows, and other Demo Day Reviewers. Provide support and quality feedback for Demo Day participants after their Demo Day lesson presentations CORE COMPETENCIES: Using the Rubric of Effective Teaching, the Office of Human Capital has identified priority skills and abilities that ALL BPS Educators should possess: Accountability for Student Achievement (II-A-1. QUALIFICATIONS__REQUIRED: Education: Hold a Bachelor's degree. Hold a Massachusetts Teaching License in Early Childhood, Elementary, Math (5-8/8-12), Science (5-8/8-12), ELA (5-8/8-12), or Humanities in the preferred content method cohort. Meet all state and federal guidelines in order to be fully licensed and Highly Qualified Meet the Standards of Effective Teaching established by the Boston Public Schools as outlined above. Strong coaching and/or teacher evaluation skills Strong facilitation and presentation skills Communicate digitally using the BPS email system, Google Drive, and other digital resources Demonstrate commitment to diversity, closing the achievement gap, and ensuring all students have access to the highest quality instruction Possess a mastery of pedagogical and subject matter skills Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work effectively with a team, fostering collaboration and growth Commitment to professional growth and learning Experience facilitating and building relationships with adult learners A desire to help aspiring teachers track their progress against standards for teaching proficiency by engaging in conversations about their practice, providing objective and ongoing feedback, and using evidence of classroom practice and student learning to improve their practice. Current authorization to work in the United States - Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment QUALIFICATIONS__PREFERRED: Experience teaching in urban schools Hold multiple Massachusetts teaching certifications for Bilingual Endorsement, Early Childhood, Elementary, Math (5-8/8-12), Science (5-8/8-12), ELA (5-8/8-12), Humanities, Moderate or Severe Disabilities Hold either a Massachusetts ESL License at the appropriate level or SEI Endorsement Hold a Master's degree in Education National Board Certification in Early Childhood, Elementary, or Math, Science, ELA, Humanities for Early Adolescence or Adolescence and Young Adulthood Experience leading Professional Development on a school and/or district level TIME COMMITMENT/COMPENSATION: Time commitment: Face-to-face hours via virtual conference for (1) hour-long training session on the specific processes of Demo Day: 1 hour Option A: Thursday, February 1, 6 - 7PM via Zoom Option B: Monday, February 5, 6 - 7PM via Zoom Face-to-face hours via virtual conference for both Demo Days to provide feedback and coaching: 7 hours Saturday, February 10, 2024 - in person Saturday, April 6, 2024 - virtual Selected candidates are required to attend both Demo Days at least one hour before the start of the event and stay back at least one hour after the event Event runs from 8:00 AM - 12:30 PM Selected candidates report at 7:00 AM and leave at 2:00 PM Providing feedback asynchronously and submitting final feedback via email: approximately 1 hour Total 10 hours Compensation: Flat Rate of $500 By April 2024 - $250 By June 2024 - $250 All interested candidates, please apply by January 25, 2024.
