- Lead, motivate, and hold store associates accountable to achieve goals and drive high performance. Provide constructive feedback and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Uphold and promote company values in all internal and external interactions, maintaining strong communication with team members, customers, vendors, and the community.
- Drive sales growth, develop and execute effective marketing strategies, and optimize in-store merchandising to enhance customer experience and profitability.
- Oversee daily department operations, including inventory management, staff development, training, and scheduling. Ensure compliance with all safety, health, and regulatory requirements.
- Foster relationships with vendors to secure competitive pricing, introduce new products, and curate high-quality offerings tailored to customer preferences.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and store performance, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing targeted solutions to enhance sales and service.
- Ensure high standards of customer service and community engagement, with a focus on creating a clean, welcoming store environment.
- Conduct regular staff performance evaluations, provide coaching, and create personalized plans for employee development, including succession planning.
- Manage department schedules, inventory counts (including overseeing perishable and grocery inventories), and promotional displays to support store objectives and increase sales.
- Stay current with industry trends, attend food shows, and engage vendors to continuously optimize product selection and pricing.
- Lead by example in all areas of store operations, setting high standards for customer service, teamwork, and overall store performance.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
- At least 2 years of experience in retail/grocery experience.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Extensive experience in both perishable and non-perishable departments, with a strong understanding of category management, merchandising, inventory control, and food safety standards.
- Proficiency in store management computer applications, including inventory management systems, reporting, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate, train, and develop employees.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, capable of effectively engaging with customers, employees, and senior management.
- Ability to drive sales and profitability through strategic planning, budgeting, and performance analysis.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities to address operational challenges and improve store efficiency.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, ensuring smooth daily operations while maintaining high service and quality standards.
- Experience in compliance and safety regulations to protect company assets and maintain a secure environment.
- Customer-focused mindset, dedicated to creating a welcoming shopping experience and addressing customer needs proactively.
- ServSafe Certified or equivalent preferred
- Frequent lifting, pushing, carrying, and pulling of weights between 20-40lbs, with occasional lifting over 40lbs.
- Standing for extended periods of time (90% of the time) and walking (10%).
- Frequent balancing, stooping, kneeling, bending, and reaching above and below waist level.
- Working in various temperature-controlled environments, including:
- Freezers (extreme cold)
- Areas near ovens (extreme heat)
- Receiving areas with occasional humidity or wet flooring
- Outside temperatures (2% of the time)
- Hard tile/cement flooring with anti-fatigue mats available
- Required: Slip-resistant footwear, various cleaning supplies, cutting gloves, and any other items necessary to support total store needs.
- Machines, Tools, and Equipment used: Baler, Pallet Jack and Box Cutters and other machinery, tools, and equipment used within the store location to support business needs.
