      Job Overview

      The Associate Store Planner supports the Director of Store Planning - Merchant Initiatives and takes ownership of assigned projects. They handle all aspects of planning and executing vendor shops, department remodels, and other GMM funded projects. This involves communicating with merchants, vendors, Store Environment partners, and Regional/Store Management teams, and managing project schedules and budgets. Preference is given to candidates possessing cross-functional skills in planning, design, and execution.

      What You Will Do

      • Direct the integration of assigned vendor shops into the store environment, ensuring compliance with merchandise and aesthetic standards while allowing for brand expression.
      • Create shop criteria including scope, plans, elevations, budgets, and schedules.
      • Review all vendor design proposals, submit budget documentation, and collaborate with the construction team for implementation in stores.
      • Coordinate, communicate, and monitor installation schedules to ensure timely and budget-compliant project delivery.
      • Build partnerships and collaborate effectively with merchants, vendors, Visual Merchandising, and Store Environment partners to develop and execute the shops.
      • Collaborate with Store Environment teams in Cincinnati and New York, providing expertise on Family of Business (FOB) matters in developing scope, block plans, merchandise flow, fixture plans, and construction documents for assigned department remodel projects.
      • Communicate all planning and design issues to project participants. Review final drawings for completeness, accuracy, merchandise functionality, and adherence to store design standards.
      • Guide outside consultants on planning and design matters to ensure alignment with project goals for scope, schedule, and deliverables.
      • Assist in maintaining and managing capital budgets, updating budget and capital reporting/tracking systems for all assigned projects.
      • Represent the FOB Director as needed in internal and external meetings, including those with Merchants, Capital Planning, Merchandise Execution, Visual teams, and Vendor partners.
      • Demonstrate the ability to work autonomously and independently on assigned projects, with strong organizational skills and attention to detail to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
      • Be agile, proactive, and solution-oriented.

      Skills You Will Need

      Project Management: Demonstrated ability to manage all aspects of planning and executing projects, including vendor shops, department remodels, and other funded initiatives. This includes overseeing project schedules, budgets, and ensuring timely delivery.

      Cross-functional Collaboration: Strong capability to collaborate effectively with merchants, vendors, Visual Merchandising, and Store Environment partners to develop and execute shop designs that align with merchandise and aesthetic standards while reflecting brand identity.

      Design and Planning Expertise: Proficiency in creating comprehensive shop criteria, including scope, plans, elevations, budgets, and schedules. Experience in reviewing vendor design proposals and providing guidance to ensure alignment with project goals.

      Problem-solving and Agility: Proactive and solution-oriented approach to address challenges as they arise during project execution. Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements and business needs.

      Strategic Thinking: Ability to think strategically and creatively in developing project plans that enhance shopping experiences and meet business objectives.

      Technical Proficiency: Proficient in AutoCAD for drafting and design purposes, Microsoft Word and Excel for budgeting and reporting, and Adobe Tools Suite for graphic design and presentation needs.

      Leadership and Design Management: Experience in effectively leading and managing design initiatives within a retail environment, including New Store Capital Projects and vendor shop design reviews.

      Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills for building and maintaining partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, providing regular updates, and fostering transparent communication practices.

      • Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Fine Arts, Design or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply.
      • 1-3 years of architectural planning experience, preferably in retail.
      • Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel. Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms. Requires close vision.
      • Able to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
