- Methods and practices of inventory management
- Record keeping practices and procedures related to the purchasing function; sources and types of equipment, parts, fluids and supplies
- Marketing practices; standard office practices and procedures, including record keeping
- Office functions that include the use of computers, paper scanners and bar code scanners
- Principles and practices of business English
- In an automated environment, read and interpret purchase requisitions, plans, drawings and specifications
- Translate user requirements into appropriate specifications
- Evaluate quality and price of products to judge suitability of goods and alternatives offered
- Exercise sound independent judgment within general policy guidelines
- Understand, interpret, explain and apply District purchasing policies and procedures
- Maintain records and files
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with District staff, vendors and suppliers, employees and others encountered in the course of work
- Establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers and all staff to ensure the team concept in the work environment
- Maintain a positive and professional disposition, demeanor and attitude with all customers, co-workers, staff and supervisors at all times
- To report to work as required and on time

Performs a variety of parts duties including inventory cycle counting, signing out parts, receiving and shipping repair parts and supplies, operate a forklift, maintaining parts room integrity and security, reading and researching parts manuals, inventory management of goods, analyze parts information and functions in an automated environment, general department housekeeping, and have ability to communicate and interact with Maintenance personnel. Shift subject to change per requirements of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities outlined above is:
High school diploma or equivalent, some college is preferred.
Must be proficient in computer inventory software.
Two years of progressively responsible experience in shipping/receiving and inventory management of a variety of supplies, materials, services and equipment, preferably in a public agency; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements:
Must have a valid California Class C driver’s license.
Experience in a public transit agency or governmental setting is preferred.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit and talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift weights up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Mental Demands:
While performing the duties of this class, the incumbent is regularly required to use written and oral communication skills; read and interpret data, information, manuals and documents; analyze and solve problems; use math and mathematical reasoning; learn and apply new information or skills; work under deadlines with constant interruptions; and interact with supervisors, employees, union stewards, vendors and others encountered in the course of work.
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this class. While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is occasional exposed to hot, wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level is moderately noisy.

SICK LEAVE: Three (3) to twelve (12) days per year depending on length of service for full-time employees, per the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
VACATION: One (1) week to six (6) weeks depending on the classification level and length of service for full-time employees, per the Collective Bargaining Agreement.RETIREMENT: RTD participates in a 401(a) retirement plan in which RTD provides a generous
