      Position : Strategic Management Fellow


      Reports to: Chief Development Officer

      Level: Individual Contributor

      Department: Development

      Classification: Non-exempt

      Benefits: Medical, Dental, & Vision; paid personal, holiday, and sick time; $1500 stipend for professional development

      Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, with occasional weekend and/or evenings as needed, 35 hours per week

      Fellowship Period: Nine-month fellowship with proposed start date of September 3, 2024

      Compensation: $18.50/hour

      Scope of the Position:

      The Strategic Management Fellow supports the planning, evaluation, and implementation of special projects and strategic initiatives related to the DMA’s upcoming capital expansion campaign. The Fellow reports to the Chief Development Officer (CDO) and will work closely with the CDO and Senior Director of Major Gifts on campaign strategy, communication, and reporting.


      Duties/Functions

      • Overall campaign management and organization including pipelines, prospect tracking, strategy, task assignment, and maintenance of timelines.
      • Conduct detailed donor research on current/prospective donors.
      • Work closely with the Manager of Advancement Services and others to manage relevant donor information and ensure its accuracy in the database, including entering call reports from the Chief Development Officer, Senior Director of Major Gifts, and other campaign leaders.
      • Assist in preparing reports and updates for the campaign leadership.
      • Lead moves management meetings and work with CEO, CDO, Senior Director of Major Gifts and volunteers to identify prospective capital campaign and other major donors.
      • Schedule meetings, preparing talking points, assembling presentations, and full meeting prep for, Board members, campaign volunteers and DMA staff.
      • Draft and prepare all campaign correspondence including solicitation proposals, meeting requests, and meeting follow up.
      • Create campaign strategic agendas, meeting Power Points, initiate meeting follow up, and staff other campaign-related committees and teams, as required.
      • Maintain and update campaign prospect lists and related materials.
      • Prepare regular campaign reports to share with staff and volunteer leadership.
      • Produce all campaign correspondence including letters of acknowledgment.
      • Maintaining master campaign calendar to maximize cultivation events and keep campaign committee on track.
      • Organizing and monitoring volunteer assignments and follow-up and assisting in all aspects of volunteer-led fundraising efforts.
      • Handle any incidental details related to the campaign as specified by the CDO.
      • Support administrative functions of the Development Department as needed.

      Requirements

      Education, Experience, and Certification :

      • Graduate student with a flexible course load or recent recipient of a graduate degree with an interest in pursuing a professional career in a museum or non-profit organization.
      • Advanced degrees in business administration, non-profit management, law, organizational behavior, information technology, marketing, communications, fundraising, data analysis, accounting, finance, or similar fields will receive preference.

      • Proven ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage changing priorities.
      • Effective diplomatic skills and ability to use discretion.
      • Demonstrated strategic thinking and analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
      • Exceptional attention to detail to ensure high quality deliverables.
      • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
      • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to problem solving, with the ability to influence without direct authority, develop effective partnerships, and build consensus.
      • Excellent written and verbal communication with a demonstrated ability to prepare executive level written and oral presentations.
