      Position Summary:

      The Stroke Program Coordinator is responsible for oversight and daily management of the Pen Bay Medical Center (PBMC) stroke program, including clinical treatment protocols, organizational stroke polices, quality and performance improvement, and education. The Program Coordinator collaborates with the Medical Director and the multidisciplinary team with the goal of maintaining Joint Commission Primary Stroke Center Certification.

      Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):

      Education: Bachelor's Degree in nursing

      License/Certification: Current License as a Registered Nurse in the State of Maine; NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification required upon hire, and AANN Stroke Nurse Certification required within 1 year of hire.

      Experience:

      1. Five years of experience in the processes of care for diagnostic evaluation and treatment of stroke and other vascular disease.
      2. Five years experience leading a clinical program or multidisciplinary work group in a health care related setting preferred.
      3. Experience in serving as a liaison between health care institutions and community based organizations.
      4. Strong written and oral communication skills.
      5. Ability to identify and build relationships with local resources.
      6. Experience with implementation of education plans.
      7. Ability to supervise and hold accountable data abstraction staff.
