- Develop corrugated design solutions that meet or exceed customer expectations.
- Create, review and approve all designs elements, including art, color, placement and structure.
- Knowledgeable regarding and able to design within equipment capabilities and industry standards.
- Lead and develop team to translate customer expectations into a design that meets customer needs.
- Provide guidance to all stakeholders regarding the most efficient and cost-effective designs.
- Train and develop the design team to understand expectations and to enhance technical knowledge.
- Able to communicate various industry package testing protocols.
- Standardize packaging choices across multiple products.
- Support sales activity by attending sales calls to customers and prospects.
- Aid in resolution of quality issues.
- Understand and optimize material choices based on customer requirements, availability, business efficiency and package integrity and performance.
- Improve technical and sales competencies by participating in professional development activities.
- Perform customer audits, identify cost savings and margin enhancement opportunities.
- Procure all materials required to operate the department.
- Understand and leverages graphic and design software.
- Act as the business’ liaison and subject matter expert for all design and graphic software.
- Direct outside creative, graphic and design vendors.
- Produce samples consistent with final production results.
- Understand and communicate capabilities to customers and other stakeholders.
- Develop the design team to design efficiently and with the business capabilities.
- Schedule design activities to ensure downstream tasks are allotted adequate time for completion.
- Develop specifications for new business, RFPs and RFI accurately and swiftly.
- Train design team regarding material choices, structural efficiency, structural integrity, art placement and equipment routing.
- Collaborate with other team members to leverage front-end processes to be responsive and effective.
- Recommend and implement software and process changes to build a robust and responsive front-end process.
- Represent the business for all graphic and design technical matters.
- Possesses an understanding of ISTA/ASTM, UN/DOT and ISTA-6 packaging testing.
- Demonstrated experience with design software and equipment.
- 3 to 5 years in a design leadership position.
- 5 to 10 years design experience.
- Graphic and print knowledge.
- Previous background in corrugated manufacturing and design.
- Strong technical skills.
- Must be proficient in CAD software.
- Ability to use IT systems, including Microsoft Office, human capital management systems, manufacturing systems, design and graphic software and SAP.
- Bachelor’s degree required.

POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for creating and developing quality package designs, specifications, and prototypes to assist sales. Eventually will be responsible for leading and directing all design personnel and activities to meet customer and business expectations of creativity and cost effectiveness as the plant grows. Manage timelines and activities for the creative and structural processes to meet customer requirements.
