Job Description

- Master of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related field
- Minimum of 2 years of business experience in one or more of the following:
- Heat transfer modeling in engine components
- Durability of engine components under mechanical, thermal and vibration loading
- Optimization of engine components for performance, quality, weight and cost
- PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related field
- Proficiency in use of problem-solving tools (Six Sigma, DOE, etc.)
- Experience with Simulia ABAQUS, Tosca, MSC NASTRAN, FEMFAT, TeamCenter, CATIA V5, Altair Suite (Hypermesh, Hyperview, Optistruct), Simlab, Matlab
- Six Sigma Green Belt trained
- Proven problem solving ability
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
- Experience working with global teams
- Comfortable working in an environment where problems are not always well-defined, and interested in learning new tools and techniques
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Plan and conduct FEA/CAE analysis of engine components/systems with respect to the durability attribute
- Provide direction and recommendations for the design of engine components/systems based on results obtained from FEA/CAE/Optimization analysis
- Apply analytical reliability & robustness methodologies to optimize engine components and systems
- Apply engineering principles & analytical techniques to establish and continuously improve engine components CAE guideline/procedures
- Collaborate with components/systems engineers to provide design direction and confirmation to achieve targets for performance, quality, function, weight and cost
- Support expedited concern resolution with cross functional teams including the design, manufacturing, quality, etc.
- Collaborate with components/system engineers to resolve engine components/systems issues for both prototype and production programs

Ford is seeking an experienced and highly motivated engine components/systems durability CAE engineer to join the ICE, Propulsion, Thermal Systems (IPTSE) engineering team.
