- Conducts detailed constructability reviews and participates in page-turn review meetings.
- Review shop drawing submittals and related technical information for accuracy and adherence.
- Prepares for and attends trade partner pre-installation meetings, possibly leading the discussion for the structural scope.
- Identifies, documents and recommends solutions to construction quality issues.
- Capable of communicating project quality status and issues at project review meetings.
- Identifies non-compliant conditions and trends that need attention/correction using advanced quality recognition skills.
- Creates technical documentation for internal use based on knowledge and review of industry standards (i.e. white papers).
- Provides internal training for structural scopes for JE Dunn project teams.
- Identifies and suggests methods to improve structural efficiency and execution on JE Dunn projects, within parameters that are acceptable to the design team.
- Collaborates with project team for communication with design team on structural issues. (Structural Engineer of Record maintains responsibility for structural design and any changes incorporated.)
- Conducts quality walks at job sites and manufacturing facilities for structural scopes (i.e. precast, structural steel, cast-in-place).
- Prepares structural drawings and calculations for Design Phase Services projects.
- Collaborates with Trade Partners on structural issues and solutions.
- Ability to perform work accurately and completely, and in a timely manner
- Communication skills, verbal and written – Advanced
- Proficiency in MS Office – Intermediate
- Proficiency in RISA or similar structural analysis software – Advanced
- Formal presentation skills – Intermediate
- Ability to read drawings, specifications, building codes and other technical product and material data – Advanced
- Knowledge of material and field testing for QA processes – Intermediate
- Knowledge of construction assemblies for a variety of construction systems – Advanced
- Proficiency in basic construction and quality software tools
- Knowledge of construction trades and scopes of work – Advanced
- Ability to build relationships and collaborate within a team, internally and externally
- Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering or related field (Required)
- In lieu of the above requirements, equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
- 8+ years construction or structural engineering related experience (Required)
- Cross-functional knowledge of the key disciplines (Architectural, Structural, MEP) and relevant trades
- Valid and unrestricted drivers license required
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
- Must be willing to work non-traditional hours to meet business needs
- May require periods of overnight travel
- Normal office environment, but may be exposed to extreme conditions (hot or cold)
- Frequent activity: Standing, Walking, Sitting, Viewing Computer Screen
- Occasional activity: Bending, Reaching above Shoulder

Role Summary
The Structural Engineering Manager will complete and oversee activities within the Structural Engineering Department. This position will also provide direct support to the Director of Structural Engineering and assistance to other structural engineers within the department. This position will be responsible for reviewing documents, collaborating with project teams, attending meetings, conducting field observations or inspections and investigating non-compliant conditions. All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, vision and values of JE Dunn.
