- Monitor and inspect the construction of all structural elements, including foundations, columns, beams, slabs, and other load-bearing structures, to ensure compliance with the approved designs and specifications.
- Conduct regular site inspections to verify that construction activities align with structural plans and industry standards.
- Identify and report any deviations or non-conformances in structural works, and work with contractors to implement corrective measures.
- Quality Assurance and Control:
- Oversee the quality of materials used in structural works, ensuring they meet the required standards and specifications.
- Conduct or witness tests on structural materials (e.g., concrete strength tests, steel reinforcement tests) to ensure quality compliance.
- Ensure that workmanship meets the required standards and promptly address any quality issues that arise.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal health, safety, and environmental regulations, as well as company standards and policies.
- Risk Assessment: Conduct regular risk assessments and job hazard analyses to identify potential hazards and implement appropriate control measures.
- Inspections and Audits: Conduct regular site inspections and audits to monitor compliance with structural standards. Identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
- Reporting: Prepare and submit regular inspection reports, including SOR reports, audit findings, and compliance metrics, to senior management and client bodies.
- Structural Specification: The Structural Inspector of Works must be well versed with the local and federal structural guideline and specification. IOW should be able to advise the contractor and correct the contractor on structural guideline and specification.
- Diploma or Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in structural inspection, with a focus on large-scale construction projects, preferably data centers or mission-critical facilities.
- Strong knowledge of structural design principles, construction methods, and materials.
- Familiarity with local building codes, regulations, and standards in Malaysia.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting structural drawings and specifications.
- Excellent attention to detail and a strong focus on quality and safety.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to work independently and make informed decisions on site.
- Possess a strong knowledge of Structural processes, building codes and safety regulations.
- Hold excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under pressure.
- Possess strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
