- Oversee the construction of structural elements to ensure compliance with approved engineering designs, plans, and specifications.
- Conduct regular site inspections to verify the quality of materials, workmanship, and adherence to structural design requirements.
- Monitor and ensure that all structural works are executed in accordance with local building codes, standards, and safety regulations.
- Quality Assurance and Control:
- Implement and maintain quality control procedures for all structural works, including the testing of materials (e.g., concrete, steel).
- Identify any structural issues or defects during construction and ensure prompt rectification by the contractor.
- Review and approve the quality of structural materials delivered to the site, ensuring they meet the project specifications.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal health, safety, and environmental regulations, as well as company standards and policies.
- Risk Assessment: Conduct regular risk assessments and job hazard analyses to identify potential hazards and implement appropriate control measures.
- Inspections and Audits: Conduct regular site inspections and audits to monitor compliance with structural standards. Identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
- Reporting: Prepare and submit regular inspection reports, including SOR reports, audit findings, and compliance metrics, to senior management and client bodies.
- Structural Specification: The Structural Resident Engineer must be vel versed with the local and federal structural guideline and specification. RE should be able to advise the contractor and correct the contractor on structural guideline and specification. RE must coordinate and challenge the designer on structural guideline and specification to ensure construction suitability and program alignment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or a related field.
- Registered Professional Engineer (PE) with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) is preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in structural engineering, with at least 3 years in a similar role overseeing construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of structural design, construction methods, and materials.
- Familiarity with local building codes, regulations, and standards in Malaysia.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting structural drawings and specifications.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality and safety.
- Ability to work independently and make informed decisions on site.
- Possess a strong knowledge of Structural processes, building codes and safety regulations.
- Hold excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under pressure.
- Possess strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
