      Job Summary:

      This position will support the Off-Highway Truck Structures team, focusing on continuous product improvement, improvement to design for manufacturability, potential cost reduction updates and current production in Decatur, IL and Thiruvallur, India. The position will also have the opportunity to be exposed to, and support, new product introduction designs.

      What you will have:

      • Proficiency with 3D modeling software (Creo preferred, Solidworks or equivalent acceptable).
      • Previous experience designing welded & machined heavy structures and castings development.
      • Executed all phases of several Continuous Project Improvement (CPI) projects.
      • Experience collaborating with Suppliers (internal or external) to optimize designs for manufacturability.
      • Experience operations and manufacturing processes such as: welding, machining, forging and foundry.

      Degree Requirement:

      • Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering degree (or international equivalent) in an accredited Engineering, or Materials Science curriculum and experience in design, testing and/or manufacturing engineering.

      Top Candidates Will Also Have:

      • Hands-on experience in mining or construction machinery equipment
      • Personal experience manufacturing knowledge on welded heavy fabrications, machining, and castings.
      • Experience with supplier collaboration and APQP execution

      • Performs at least 2-3 concurrent activities without reducing productivity.

      Product Design - MFG:
      • Participates in the conception process of a manufacturing product vision.
      • Collects and analyzes customer and market requirements, and generates reports.
      • Utilizes design methods to implement the construction of a new design model.
      • Uses automated tools to design or modify the design of a product.
      • Assists in the testing and refinement of a new product design.

      Summary Pay Range:

      $87,480.00 - $131,280.00

      Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
