      The Computerized Note Taker is responsible for supporting access to course material for students with disabilities through provision of all presented lecture material via notes . The student, along with the Student Accessibility Case Manager, will determine the format of note taking that best meets individual needs.

      SUMMA RY OF DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

      • Review the Learning Management System (Sakai/Brightspace) for PowerPoint slides and resources prior to class ;

      • Record in writing all dialogue within the learning environment in a manner that meets accessibility needs;

      • Provide access to notes within the agreed upon timeline via upload to the Online Accommodation Student Information System (OASIS ) ;

      • Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and lecture material ;

      • Depending on funding type, may be required to track service delivery weekly for partial reimbursement of funding to the department via Bursary for Students with Disabilities (BSWD).

      QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & ABILITIES

      • Keyboarding speed of 70 wpm ;

      • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and using a laptop computer ;

      • Ability to process and summarize new subject matter quickly;

      • Completion of an undergraduate degree;

      • Completion of graduate courses or a combination of education and experience will be considered.

      Problem Solving, Analysis & Innovation:

      • Strong time management, prioritization, and organizational skills ;

      • Ability to leverage existing resources to solve problems.

      Preferred or Asset S kills:

      • Experience in a post-secondary environment is an asset.

      SALARY INFORMATION

      • Hourly rate - $20 per hour

      • One additional hour per course per week is paid for preparation ahead of lecture and upload of notes to the OASIS system.

      • Classes cancelled less than 24-hours will be paid as scheduled . Non-instructional days, reading week, classes cancelled greater than 24-hours in advance and holidays are unpaid.
