Advises students on academic programs, policies, procedures and course requirements; serving as liaison with other University departments as needed.
Evaluates and monitors students' academic progress, and develops appropriate outreach strategies as necessary.
Handles general student inquiries and/or concerns while working as single point of contact for students during research and communication of resolution
Assesses students' stage of development (academic, career, personal) and guides them to more specialized student counseling services, such as Student Assistance Program, Career Mentorship, etc.
Acts as an advocate for positive student experiences, while continuously reinforcing the importance of student self-sufficiency.
Actively promotes Office of Student Life communities and events, and works in partnership with Office to engage students in relevant clubs and organizations.
Maintains accurate and thorough student records and documentation of communications had with students within our internal student information management systems.
Performs verification and quality control activities for new/returning student enrollments including accurate and timely data-entry, verification of receipt of required documents, and orienting students to Purdue University Global.
Works as an active member of a team to ensure a positive student experience for all students, whether specifically assigned or not.
Bachelor's Degree (B.A./B.S) in Education, Business, or field related to area of assignment
3+ years related experience
Client service, student support, or other experience related to area of assignment
Two years experience for every year of formal education required.
Proficiency with computers and an ability to learn fundamental workings of content management systems and web applications. Daily assignments include extensive use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and email.
Excellent written/verbal communication skills
Ability to follow processes, work effectively on a team, and maintain a positive attitude
Ability to quickly learn how to use a database management system
Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced deadline-oriented environment
Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
May be required to work evening and weekend shifts

The Student Advisor provides post-enrollment consultative services throughout the academic journey of an assigned cohort of Purdue Global students. Student Advisors are responsible for building supportive relationships; preparing new students for the rigors of their program; fostering positive student experiences; monitoring attendance, student progress, and academic success; and providing accurate and timely guidance and support related to PG policies, procedures, degree requirements and related academic matters.
Candidates must be available to work the following schedule:
Monday- Thursday (9am-6pm or 10am -7pm ET with 1-2 late days 12pm -9pm ET) & Friday (9am -6pm ET)
