      Southern New Hampshire University is seeking a student employee to fill the role of Crisis Counselor for the Crisis Text Line organization. As a Volunteer Crisis Counselor, you will work closely with Crisis Counselor Supervisors to provide de-escalation to people in crisis via a text-based service. You will provide empathy and compassion while collaborating with your Crisis Counselor Supervisor on any necessary external intervention. You will provide high-quality service supporting our texters while adhering to training and clinical policies and procedures.

      Job Responsibilities:

      • Participate in suicide and crisis intervention training

      • De-escalate individuals in crisis by using best practices in the field of suicidology, as well as empathy and good contact techniques

      • Connect individuals in crisis to appropriate resources

      • Maintain appropriate levels of boundaries and confidentiality/privacy with individuals in crisis

      Minimum Qualifications:

      • Enrollment in the following degree programs: Psychology, Sociology, Human Services. General Studies with a concentration in these areas

      • Current enrollment in classes as part of a SNHU degree program

      • Work study as part of the financial aid package

      • 18 years of age

      • Must complete and pass a background check

      • Must have your own laptop/desktop computer with reliable internet

      Work Schedule: Mon-Sun, flexible scheduling. Students will be paid for training time as well as time actively engaged with texters.

      Compensation

      The hourly pay range for this position is $12.00 - $15.00. Actual offer will be based on skills, qualifications, experience and internal equity, in addition to relevant business considerations.
