      BCBSRI is looking for local undergraduate students to participate in our dynamic, paid summer internship program for 2024! Through this program, you will gain hands-on experience in various business areas, such as Health Administration, Behavioral Health, Graphic Design, Marketing, Information Technology, and Customer Service.

      What you will do:

      • This program is designed to provide a comprehensive learning experience, offering insights into the health insurance sector and exposure to real-world business challenges.
      • Interns will experience daily responsibilities and project work within their business area.
      • During this 10 to 12-week summer program (May to Aug), you will have the opportunity to learn about areas of business that you are interested in, work directly with employees of BCBSRI, and receive hands-on career coaching.
      • This is a wonderful opportunity for students who are interested in broadening their experience with a leading healthcare organization and gaining real world experience through an internship.
      • We are looking for interns within the following departments, please state on the application under “comments” which areas of the business you are interested in and would like to be considered for. Students with concentrations in, and a strong interest and passion in these areas will be considered.
      • Perform other duties as assigned.

      What you need to succeed:

      • Currently enrolled in an accredited university, pursuing a degree in Health Administration, Behavioral Health, Graphic Design, Marketing, Information Technology, and Customer Service.
      • We are looking for interns within the following departments, please state on the application under “comments” which areas of the business you are interested in and would like to be considered for. Students with concentrations in, and a strong interest and passion in these areas will be considered. (Finance, Technology, Actuarial, Marketing, Sales, Human Resources, Business Operations, Government Programs, Commercial, Strategy, Shared Services, Legal, Project Management and Customer Service).
      • Must be local to RI for the entire length of the internship program.
      • Demonstrated academic excellence (Strongly prefer a GPA of 3.0 or higher) and a strong interest in the health insurance industry.
      • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently with minimal supervision.
      • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
      • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
      • Authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
      • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, for delivery to a variety of audiences.
      • Results oriented, flexible, self-motivated, and able to work in a team environment.
      • Learning mindset, focus on continuous process improvement.

      Location:

      BCBSRI is headquartered in downtown Providence, conveniently located near the train station and bus terminal. We actively support associate well-being and work/life balance and offer the following schedules, based on role:

      • In-office: onsite 5 days per week
      • Hybrid: onsite 2-4 days per week
